Putties were still being issued at the odd CCF unit as late 1999 - suppose they had loads in stock & no one requesting them back.
They could also double up as a useful bandage for first aid training

Yep, of the many bits at kit I’ve wanted at Nijmegen, I can safely say that a blue wooly pulley was not one of them.

At Nijmegen I always found a T-shirt under a warm weather MTP 95 Shirt to still be too hot. Anyone who wants to wear a wooly pulley in the height of the Dutch summer surely is an unusual individual
