Where does this ridiculous new rule leave wearers of blouses when they get cold? Do they even work with a tie?
At work I wear short sleeves or roll up my sleeves as it’s most practical and comfortable. Having long sleeves rolled down knackers the cuffs if you are working at desk and in the case of uniform shirts the sleeves are too short and end up half way up my forearm or I have to hold myself like I have some sort of deformity. I have to buy longer sleeved shirts for day to day which are more expensive, hence the reason I predominately buy short sleeved. Also the largest neck size supplied by the RAF is about 1 inch smaller than I wear day to day.
This rule defies all practicality and comfort for our working enviroment and I imagine the majority of clerical/admin roles in the RAF. Maybe we should ditch the light blue and just wear cammo!!
Yes I am aware that we don’t have to buy shirts for the ATC, but getting new shirts like any uniform is too much of a task and you can’t guarantee they’ll have your size.
Is this same sgt who wanted her 10 year old non-cadet off spring playing the last post at rememberance day in full aircadet uniform?
Nothing wrong with sticking to the AP like glue - provided that the glue is pritstick & not epoxy resin!
Yep that’s the one!!!
Just to add she has SS shirts I know the rule pretty well as some of you know I was a DI not a ATC one but a real one at Halton but I keep being over ruled… Unfortunately I am leaving the ACO in a few weeks and I very much doubt I will ever come back due to the bad experiences I have had recently…
The same woman was boasting that her daughter was asked to play it at a funeral recently for a ex serviceman said serviceman was my Uncle and she was telling lies… To say I went of on one is an understatement but again nothing has been done about it
how much luck - or otherwise - have you had getting your OC/WHQ to reign in these nutters?
if none, is it because its all just too much hard work, or do you think a calculated decision has been made that however correct you are, you probably weren’t going to stick around whereas as this bunch of wierdo’s were, and that your WHQ is looking at the numbers game?
any chance of a proper flounce - stiff letter to CAC with evidence of village Napoleons and their facilitation by WHQ?
enjoy life outside, you’ll find it massively less stressfull and irritating…
The main reason I am leaving is because I have just been offered a job in abroad but if it wasn’t for that I would have a long hard think about staying… It’s getting to the point it’s just not worth the hassle anymore
Its never worth the hassle but now and again one of the young people does or says something and I just go YES and your faith is restored. then your WSO walks in…
While singing the Horst Wessel song?
Seem to be some very anti-CACWO posts on this thread… having known him and his family for the best part of a decade, he’s a nice bloke, but actually reading the dress regs has never been his strong suit… (although how is that different from pretty much every snec and wo, ever?)
And I can say things like that now I’ve bailed out of the Corps, since the thread seems to be meandering into that discussion…
Sorry to hear that but at least you’ve added to my lexicon:-
Zinggy’s Trumpet - phrase. Describing a conflict caused by a situation where an adult staff member is allowed to get away with woeful standards of behaviour due to not being appropriately challenged by their chain of command.
"How was cadets last night?
“It was hell - Yet another Zinggy’s Trumpet to deal with!”
See how it goes, with the fickle job market it might work to go 1 year NEP which will allow you to be reposted to another Sqn if abroad doesn’t work out.

As its tax free where im going I need to spend 2 years out there or I have to pay back all the tax I have missed… But one day if and when I come back to the UK I may rock up at a sqn…
I have a feeling I know where you’re headed. If I’m correct, there’s a mate of mine who’s ex-RAF just coming up to the end of his 2 years and he’s had enough. Mind you, after 2 years out there, he’s minted.
He’ll have to sell the Mustang though, as it would be a proper ball-ache to bring that back with him!
Such a pity… we need more Mustang’s in the UK. Especially the '65 and '66 notch-back variety.
The secret is to get a squadron that’s so far fro anywhere that nobody ever visits…
We can wear SS shirts?! Great! I’ve got a great one in reversible Summer/Autumn Oakleaf camo…
i bet being the OC in Jersey or Gib is pretty easy… i was surprised there wasn’t a Sqn in Stanley actually.

Im of out to Abu Dhabi…
Got a few mates that have been out there for a few years and they seem to love it… But as you say they are minted.
My mate works at Dubai International airport. My wife’s aunt has a pottery business in Abu Dhabi and she gets a lot of commissions from the royal family.
I’m looking to set up a training business in the UAE as we’ve got a few contacts I made when I was last there.

How can I get a squadron badge approved for use on MTP. We tried years ago and it never went anyway. Not even a reply.
-
Does 1358c say we can roll sleeves up in MTP?
-
Whilst I appreciate this is still thread creep, we’re all still broadly talking about the same topic (i.e. breaches of dress regulations and why people get so jumped up about it). Therefore I’m not going to post a warning unless it gets very silly.
feel free to PM re the sqn badge, I spent several months investigating, talking to people, looking the regulations. You can roll sleeves up, it was a DIN notices sent out by the CAS - I have a copy of the DIN and it has been accepted by all.
Given the regularity that the cadet version of 1358 is updated, why has this not be written in? Was it not this DIN that highlighted the shirt to be tucked in, this features within the AP, but the sleeves not?
I think that there may be more of us than just PEP interested in the Squadron badge, maybe this is a policy/process that could be added in a sensible location on SharePoint, and thus accessible by all that are interested.
I am trying to document the process to be signed off to be then sent out - I am on leave as of Friday - but will follow up thereafter, on the DIN subject I have access to the Defence Intranet and the correct Din, I just put the wrong comment there relating to v1.06, removed and I will chase the next ver
happy to help ;)
It’s been about 5 months and no formal update on how to get a Sqn TRF ! So is it:
A- still in progress
B- a “get out of jail free” card
C- never going to happen
A - I will be discussing this Saturday
