Al has just put out a post suggesting things have gotten much better, not worse. This thread suggests otherwise?
I am usually not a fan of FOI-ing at every issue, however just this once I am rather tempted to try to have a nosy at some of HQACās internal comms about it, that would likely be tellingā¦

Iām not sure what itās like down there, but up here thatās around a quarter of all squadrons in a region.
I wonder if thatās representative of the Corps as a whole (assuming itās mostly ATC impacted?)
ETA: If it is, that means around 12,500 people unable to parade IIRC.
Off the top of my head that number is likely approximately correct for my wing, too
What is infuriating is the complete lack of any information of any timescale for this utter disaster to be resolved. There has been no news of any squadron having had to close now having been re-certified and is back operational again.
As I have read many times the communications leave a lot to be desired.
Wings is SW vary quite a bit. Itās probably 1.5-2 wingās worth of Sqns
HQ announcement now says that 21 units have already re-opened but no indication of how long they were shut before being re-opened.
One that Iām aware of was 48hrs. This issue was getting the paperwork over to the right person update the system & give the re-parade order.
Going to be a lot of SMS events to auditā¦.
Personal email now from the Commandant suggesting everything will be completed by 31 March but they will exert pressure to try to improve on that.
By 31st Marchā¦ā¦

I really do hope the OC quoted/mentioned above doesnāt get any trouble for this - his letter does genuinely look like trying to get the message out ASAP, rather than trying to get attention or start any trouble!

Getting these certs sorted should take a couple of weeks max if it was any normal company. You can book a sparky to come out and do it.
But of course being the RFCAs itāll take months as it will have to go to tender and then only go though approved companies.

I wouldnāt be surprised, given that itās not āofficialā comms. Seems an odd choice to me if he sent it to them directly.
The OC who wrote the letter above should be praised. Itās professional, factual and informative.
HQAC should really be the ones sending letters like that when wide scale problems like this happen.

In the commercial world the occupier/lessee is responsible for all these sorts of things.
You have proved that your building has a certificate but you canāt go against orders from above.
That sort of implies that someone above does not understand or that the RAF/MOD rules are that it has to be their own contractorās certificate to be valid and nothing else is acceptable.
