Where are we currently telling cadets to put their space badge as obviously i know we are still awaiting on the new layout coming out or are we telling them not to wear them at the moment?
Youāve got badges!?
Not officially released yet I donāt think?
We presented them, took a photo, and then stole the badge back to wait further instructionš
That way they canāt loose them whilst we are waiting
I thought they went in the place of the mythical parachute badge?
I think that was one option that was considered. But given the space badges are square I thought the plan was to combine cyber and radio into one badge, which goes in the place of parachuting, and then space goes where radio/cyber was.
Just tell them to keep them safe for now, comms will come asap.
Without sounding like a broken record how many more badges can we physically get. I am surprised there isnāt a wing/region sports representational badge or an archery badge. Personally i think its getting a bit bonkers, next there will be a badge for 1 year service!
Iāve heard that Sea / Marine cadets get long service medals. Scouts get a badge for each yearās service (even I got a badge after being chairman for five years: despite having no [Scout] uniform to put it on).
Is it such a bad idea for us to have a service length badge for the Cadets/CFAVs?
My only thought against is that a non-NCO cadet with 5 service bars may be ridiculed. Not sure if it still happens nowadays but we used to call Staff Cadet Cadet rank slides āspeedo tapesā without the Sā¦
They get good conduct stripes which they wear in their no 1s
I think One every year for cadets
One every two years for adults & resets at CFM/bar
But we digressā¦ā¦
Resets when eligible or when the sodding medal/bar arrives?
I think they are pragmatic as reset when medal arrives but the date resets to when eligible.
Saves sewing I guess.
Theyād have stripes from the shoulder to the cuff if they had to wait until the medal arrived! Iāve never seen RN personnel with more than three.
Yes i have 1 cadet i managed to get a bronze space badge for him surprisingly.
As a CI Iāve done loads of courses/qualifications and the cadets were asking me why we donāt get badges for it! Would be really handy if you think about it. Youād be able to see clearly who was first aid trained, archery instructor, d of e etc!
Where would you put your badges? On your CI polo?
I canāt think of any way to give a CI qualification badges without them looking like underdressed Scout Leaders.
Issue sashes to CIs?
Yep seen some CIs do this with radio badges & first aid.
