I’ve just seen the proposed new Brassard PTS Badges poster that’s up on the Training Hub
What have they done to the classification badges!
Talk about shoe horning the colour scheme on the most iconic set of badges.
Every time I see a new badge proposal I get more and more sad that Radio seems to be being abandoned. With the push in Astra for Cyber I can’t see Radio Communications winning out against Cyber for badge related courses. Especially with how much Radio communicaitons is essential for things like RIAT. I have personally found it to be underused already and fear it will fade more and more under this circumstance.
I don’t understand why with the cancellation of Parachuting they don’t make a round space badge and replace it. While I would hate to see another seciton of the Air Cadets ‘air’ be lost surely preserving the current activities should be part of the aims of a PTS revamp.
As much as it seems a certainty that we’ll loose the Radio Badge, the proposed new “Cyberspace PTS” does incorporate Radio Comms into the syllabus.
I saw the New master badge out in the wild for the first time on the weekend
Ironically on a CDC, so i pulled them up for wearing a dodgy badge

Trying to cut down on cost…so introduce new colours… so will have to throw out what we have, and buy new ones…
They’ve Introduced a Blue → Gold Scheme, The Cadets had gold coloured Master badges

When did that happen? I can’t see anything about that, unless I’m being thick? (likely.)
Wouldn’t it make more sense to just have the crossed rifles badge (i.e. the actual marksman badge) but in blue, bronze, silver, and gold?
Compared to the rest, yes. But I prefer it the way it is! I think it would be good if all the badges had different designs per level. The colours are often hard to distinguish.
Is that why you can’t see that the Leading badge on that poster above is bronze? That the First Class has an outline of blue etc etc

I even went and got my old brassard, compared the Master badge to that photo and said to my self nothing has changed
Surprised there wasn’t more consultation with the cadets to get their opinions on design etc.

It follows the old CCF(RAF) style of badges of 2nd class, 1st class, marksman, RAF marksman.
