I think most units don’t parade on Bank Holidays though?
My old unit only stood down for Christmas! Current unit stands down for most Bank Holidays. I just thought they’d put something specific about the 19th in there, that’s all.
And as indicated before how there are no repercussions.
What will they do…sack the OC?
Not only will that be an unpopular decision given their reasons but gives the CoC a headache finding a new OC…and it isn’t like we’re fighting staff away from the role
You can request it. Doesn’t mean it’s granted. From experience it’s not been.
Yes, that’s also my understanding; plus the head teacher’s primacy applies here (as it did for return to F2F after COVID, which most schools did in Sep 2020, with lots of mitigations)
I messaged our OC in the staff chat asking if we were on as other Sqns paraded last night, all be it short notice for many…it’s 1750 now I’ve been out all day with zero reception and was unable to message the group. Other staff have seen the message but the OC
OC has made the decision to stay stood down until after the funeral. Not really sure why.
My sqn has done the same, simply for the reason we will be closed for the bank holiday too so start back properly next week.
If I was still an OC I wouldn’t bother reopening for 1 night.
Likewise
We will only have had one night between HM’s passing and the funeral, which is this coming Friday. It was already planned to be a padre night, which I think is appropriate in the circumstances.
It’s also the first opportunity to welcome the new cadets who signed up at our open day, and I don’t want to keep putting them off and risk losing them before they’ve even started.
We will have missed 3 by the time we next parade and could have had two this week, but heyho.
A member of another part of this site mentions the Scouts are in London assisting people who need help on the crowd line around The Mall, bet the ACF and SCC are there as well, NO RAFAC there.
Op London Bridge Team from HQ with updates including BoB
Heard a good one from Cranditz. There was surprise at ATF / Academy (whatever it’s now called), on Monday when half this weeks course didn’t show up…… although the stop order said no activity on RAF bases.
Oh to be a fly on that HQ wall when that conversation was had…
Was the surprise that people didn’t show up? Or that people did?
The stop order should have been so easy to understand. ‘All activity to stop, except for routine cadet parade nights, which are to be conducted with appropriate solemnity’. Instead, we have exceptions and confusion. Is this another case of poor comms?
