I let my cadets know yesterday we wouldn’t be parading this evening regardless … I didn’t want a go/no go message to come late in the day.
A colleague in the office has a son in the army cadets. He’s off on his usual parade night this week, and taking part in an exercise this weekend.
He moved over to the army cadets from the air cadets after having trouble settling into their local squadron.
My colleague was surprised that we’re having to cancel everything. Seems like comms and a plan were all in place very quickly for their lot…
Maybe her son has the right idea!
We’ve just been told that Squadron Parade evening can continue as normal
Edit to Add - IBN to be out later today with more details/guidance.
Is it… the current orders don;t stop me doing emails / Admin Orders / Lesson Plans at home…
If it’s any consolation, I’ve seen similar responses from other organisations I’m involved with.
Thursday night/Friday morning - stop stop stop, cancel activity
Friday afternoon/Saturday morning - OK you can continue from Monday. But we’ve cancelled and can’t uncancel now…
We got a stand down order from wing this morning orver the concerns of how it would look with cadets on public transport in uniform etc. It has ment we have had to push back a new intake of 10.
Speaking with colleagues up in aberdeen there werw army cadets and scout lining the route that she took yesturday and there was no sign of air cadets there. Like wsie we were not asked to do anything around edinburgh.
But the current does stop…
Again. Not saying i disagree.
But if Sqn Cdrs are prepared to openly ‘disobey’, it shows just how weak HQACs response has been.
I see the ol’ CoC working as efficiently as ever then!
Pretty sure using public facing SM to say that cadets is back on is still a big no no…
For OpSec reasons if nothing else
Yep it is
I’m not wasting my time repeatedly checking for an IBN.
I’ll be on Facebook because that’s where the info from HQAC will come first !
Wing saying in lieu of HQ commenting, no parading tonight.
Why would you be checking?
This is what SharePoint alerts are for
The stop was an all points email, so suspect the start will be too
Is this your first time here?
Maybe a letter to the Times from Angry of Tunbridge Wells complaining about this stupidity would be an idea, see if it flushes CRAFAC or the CAS out for who and why the decision was made?
The RAF can’t afford anymore publicity which is very negative and neither can the CAS.
Still no further detail in my inbox. Glad we took the decision to bin parade nights off early. It’s almost as if we knew that HQAC communicating a decision was very unlikely… as it would require the powers that be to first of all make a decision, and then communicate it.
I’ve now been told we can carry on, and told an IBN is on it’s way.
I’ve just been told the opposite!
