RIAT Extended Camp Activities

What sort of thing do the cadets do on riat extended camp because I have been selected to do it and wanna know what thing I would get up to.

Just so I can prepare my self on whats happening.

So the extended camp includes the construction and de-construction of the camp ground itself ready for the main camp to arrive.

Day 1 = making your home for the week.

I’ve never been so can’t comment further, hopefully you can feedback after the camp to support a wider understanding

I always find it fascinating that Cadets put their names forward to opportunity and only when they get selected do they then ask what the opportunity is.

In short, @themajor has it right.

within the first hour of arriving you’ll be put to task to build your “home” for the next two weeks, namely your tent. Having learnt how to do that, you keep going for another 3-4 days building up the necessary tents to accommodate all the expected personnel due to arrive.

in addition there will be some “airfield” based activities, such as “gate building” (creating funnels at entrance points for the paying public to filter through into lanes), assisting with park and view, and potentially included in the packed lunch tasking

on the show weekends you tend to get one day on “Crowd line” and another on the of the enclosures.

On Monday there is “FOD PLOD” on the airfield to permit aircraft movements to take place
on Tuesday everyone on Main camp leaves, and the camp begins to come down

if you are on Facebook search RIAT CAMP Cadets for the group where you’ll find plenty of discussion and photos showing what Cadets and CFAVs get up to

also there is the thread linked below for more information

Thank you I had a idea of what happens but it was just to give me more of a idea

Interesting we can no longer do car parking at other local events but cadets can these task at RIAT, I did driving at RIAT for several had near miss where cadets and even some staff stepped into vehicle road way without looking, one incidents cadets where taking road barriers down with back road way near miss. Asked someone who aas on H&S team how many near misses where report advised none

If nobody reported the near misses, then the H&S team would be none the wiser. I hope you reported your near misses.

Cadets don’t do car parking at RIAT, that’s outsourced to a paid company - has been every year I’ve been

Seconded.
In the 20 years I’ve been going to RIATs not once have Cadets been car parking
