RIAT 2022 and 2023

With the exception of a cap rather than a bush hat, these control measures were in place.

and the 1 litre plus of water an hour? Did the cadets get given the 500ml water bottles as a part of the kit?

Yes. I’ve not measured it, but it’s at least 500ml if not 1l.

I mean, I didn’t force it down their throats, but frequent reminders, yes.

As implied by @Squirrel RIAT do whatever is necessary to make flight commanders life easier…any heat related injury is more a reflection on the CFAV’s diligence towards their Cadet’s welfare and competency at looking after 10-Cadets between two adults

And you cannot possibly know the intent or success of any encounters CAC may have had - and may never know, but that doesn’t denote a lack of productivity.

It’s clear that a lot of people think he should have seen the cadets a bit more (while others have said that he did see some) and that doesn’t just apply to RIAT (there may be others and I don’t know the full extent, but I’m aware he made to an October camp with RC(N) last year), but regardless of personal opinion it’s folly and unfair to get worked up and complain about things that may or may not have happened, or haven’t yet had chance to come to fruition.

There’s no point wasting time and stress on conjecture or judging someone as the same as another without comparable evidence or experience.

Slightly cryptic post on the RIAT Facebook page

Looks like they are acknowledging that the calling notice which is normally released in November with initial Wing deadlines in January/February hasn’t been released and there are reasons behind it.

Depending on who i believe this looks to be with TK and “another department”, others have said it is relation to the number of F492 raised in 2022 but that should be readily explained due to the high temperatures (although if suitable control measures were in place then the numbers are simply the “expected” numbers scaled up in proportion to the temperature)

I have also heard there is an IBN relating to it which will have more information…but who knows?

I would imagine COS is trying to figure out what to do about it all and how the risk can be better managed. This seems to be his daily role at the moment relating to RAFAC activities and trying to get ahead of issues that were seen in 2022.

Its the same with Nijmegen. Deadline for bids is normally Jan.

Now let me guess what the end result will be!!!

But Wings need to plan not only for Holland but have to plan attendance at a qualifier, Cosford is far approaching and nothing from HQAC as yet.

Ah the old

‘lets admin it to death and then make it too hard/too short timescales for anyone to get through all the hoops’

Then they can say they did their part but we did not take advantage of what we were offered

i would tend to agree (see ACPS) but those that actually make RIAT happen, and not just those who allow it to happen are trumpeting that it is “business as usual just bare with us”

on the basis that RAFACTE will have offered the RIAT Mgt team their “wish list” of task to be covered that will be on the basis of X00s of Cadets attending and on that basis a “fair go” for all.

if there is only X00s/4 attending that stretches everything not only for the RAFAC RIAT team but RAFACTE as well if they don’t have the manpower (/Cadet power) on the ground to cover those tasks…

IBN out now. Bit of a grenada. Seems like lots has come out of the 2022 investigation

IBN 005-2023 is out!

I think the last paragraph is by far the most interesting…

Yeah, looks like we now have another age split. So we’ve got cadets, over 16 cadets and then staff cadets. Apparently if you’re 15 or under you can’t do tasking duties. Is this going to become a thing nationwide for all activities I wonder?

Indeed, I’d be interested to read that report (and the recommendations).

And above minimum school leaving age don’t forget.

Is the camp side dead now with day travel back and forth?

So how much of the primary youth aviation themed activities are going to be left for the youth?

ACPS was from 16yrs is now 18
RIAT was from 14yrs now 16

makes me wonder was there any point
1 - dropping the age from 22 to 20 and continual talk of removing staff cadets
2 - dropping the entry age to 12 from 13y13
