RAFAC Attitude Survey 2020

Oh, hidden in the announcements, new IBN 002-2020 - “POLICY CHANGES TO RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS, SECURITY VETTING AND ISSUE OF ID CARDS”

Going to see a lot of people revert to CI then soon when they either dont want to, or simply wouldnt pass an SC.

I have thankfully avoided it but going to have to bite the bullet as my MOD90 is due in 3 months :pensive:

Best get started now!

frustrating that we have all jumped through the BPSS hoop to tick the “minimum need” requirement only to now need SC!

Tbf, in my Wing it was communicated as “everybody will be BPSS, all uniformed staff will need SC”.

It’s a case of, they now know who we all are, they want to know if who we are is safe to let loose on a station.

Well the questionnaire was fun. Free answer text boxes appreciated but needed more.

If people are as honest as when they talk in private it will be illuminating and prove that comments and “likes” on SM amount to nowt.

Answer categories too narrow and as suggested N/A or neither agree / disagree missing, as the analysis may show things in a worse light as the central tendency or nil response isn’t there.

Questions a bit odd and many repeated in different places which strikes me as odd. This reminded me of a psychometric test, where the questions are repeated with similar responses.

Hopefully results adjusted and unadjusted will be published in full.

WRT the Scouts. I live in a village and fully understand and love the village dynamic and community ethic, it’s much, much better than the vacuous anonymity of larger towns.
The towns around us have lots of “scout” groups so are just like cadet squadrons drawing from a number of schools and have casual helpers, so to dismiss this idea on the basis that an ATC squadron doesn’t have any “community feel” is wrong. We create the community feel / sense of belonging with the cadets, where they feel they are on home ground and comfortable. The idea that we ask if parents or carers if they have particular skills or knowledge they would like to impart or use to help out in some way without any rigmarole, could bear fruit in many different ways and all of a sudden a squadron could be doing all sorts of things and different people coming in to do things, where we as staff don’t necessarily have the skills, knowledge or interest. It wouldn’t need to be a long term commitment and may help generate interest.
Trying to always use people on the inside, becomes a lottery and doesn’t always fit with donating or receiving squadrons and put more pressure on these people. The problems that arise trying to organise sector/area things should show this.
These people helping might enjoy it enough to “sign up”, enjoy might not be right word but you know what I mean.
I think that a more local approach and just the squadron, would engender a spirit of community as they would have an emotional attachment / buy-in

If it’s externally created by a pro company that may be closer to the truth than you think, they will often have multiple questions that sound similar to have an average of a response on a certain thread instead of a single response to a single question.

Disappointed no one noticed this earlier, was waiting on a separate thread of people whinging.

Likewise.
I’m going to “update it” to see if that triggers something.

Though, as an organisation this shouldn’t come as a surprise to us - I remember pointing out that JSP 440 requires all those of us with a MOD90 (and therefore with unescorted access to stations) to have SC about 10 years ago. At that time HQAC were either unaware or were just not poking the bear about it.

I do recall there being something pushed out from HQAC to say that all uniformed staff must have SC a good 3 or 4 years ago. Possibly even longer.
I recall it well because one of my staff kept grumbling about it and I’ve been pushing him to finish the damned thing ever since.

how do I 'update ’ my email address on SMS? It hasn’t changed for years?

Well, all my details were either a single letter or a single numeral, depending on the field! I would try deleting your email address, saving the changes & exiting SMS. Then go back in to SMS & re-enter your email address. Hopefully that might re-set things??

BPSS is a prerequisite of SC clearance if you work in the defence industry

no not at all, for those of us who have been around long enough, but those who are still new and wet behind the ears hearing “can you complete the BPSS as that will finalise what is required to be a CFAV” to then be told - now complete an SC, 20% of which is the BPSS!

it should have been a prerequisite for all CFAVs but was missed…

What I mean of course when I say “us as an organisation” is that HQ should have known that this has been coming for a long time and could perhaps have been better prepared.

I have deleted both me emails and swapped roles on re entering them; so secondary email is now my primary one and the original primary is relegated to 2nd. If I don’t get s survey it just means I have 15 minutes of my life back.

Has anyone had an email in the ‘second wave’ of survey requests? I didn’t get one last week, despite a valid email address on SMS, then refreshed my email on SMS over the weekend. I was expecting to see an invite today. Hopefully I haven’t missed out!

Nothing yet - I’ll start “worrying” if I don’t see it by Wednesday.

I don’t want to miss the chance to give some honest (blunt) feedback!

Still nothing here either, I have checked and rechecked my email address is correct and showing

As if by magic, an email has just been delivered…
