RAF IBN 95/24 - wearing No2 SD jersey without a tie

I think I got mine from “the Woolley Pully”. Didn’t have any with a pen pocket left, but it’s a much better neck line.

Only a few left. There can’t be a great market for crab fat blue these days.

There are no references to Norwegians, Buffaloes, or Softies in the AP either: but they are issued and people wear them. I treat my Jersey, Heavy Wool (OG), in the same regard.

Finally. This might bring an end to people using GPJs as an interior warm layer because they hate ties.

There was a line saying that all Soldier 95 ancillaries could be worn with PCS. I don’t think it formally extends to the jumper but best to ask for forgiveness rather than permission.

Since the only people who ever wore them now have no reason to, the wearing of aircrew qualification badges on shirts has all but killed off the blue woolly pully.

Whats cheaper?

The Jumper or the GPJ?

Did a work trip to Blagoveshchensk (look that one up!) for about 6 days. Forecast temperatures were going to be about -30C by day & -40C by night.

I told the crew that as long as the visible items of uniform were black or dark navy, wear the warmest stuff that they had!

I wore a natty dark navy blue woolly pully with epaulettes (gotta keep standard’s up - with tie of course!) - think I got it in a mil surplus store for about a fiver. It had a pen pocket on the upper left sleeve too. Oh the embarrassment of wearing an ex-RN jumper!

Worked a treat - with all the other layers!

Was always a bit jealous of Sea Scout leaders who had RN jumpers for the chillier months, with the rest of us in shirt sleeve order!

(The Sea Scouts themselves had a sweatshirt type jersey so they weren’t too cold either)

Shoelace works for making a jersey look smart with 2C, no reason it won’t with 2A/B :man_shrugging:t2:

I use a shoe lace in my round neck but doesn’t work well in a V Neck I find.

That’s changed then. In my time in Sea Scouts, we has a kind of Guernsey pullover with Sea Scouts embroidered across the front - it was great in winter, but a bit sweaty in the summer.

I think our local ones just wore a dark navy / black sweatshirt, probably for cost reasons. Official scout uniform is not cheap!

That’s what I was thinking.

RN recognised Sea Scouts just seem to wear naval uniform with RN recognised Sea Scout identifiers.

As @AlexCorbin knows me well… “what’s a jumper”

Like me… i wear short sleeve most of the year.

I’m very cold blooded (100% not a NFCI ) but delay the jumper as long as possible because of the Tie

I went on the Staff Officers Course this year and took the jumper for the photo… 5th time I have worn a jumper since 95 - I did one course and the Wing Trg photoshopped a jumper on to me :joy: I DONT DO JUMPERS - unless its a Norgie on Exercise

Think the last time I wore a jumper was my CIC. Cranditz don’t give you much of a choice…

i mean it makes my V Neck look like a pointy crewneck which i like :joy:
