Yeah seen that, what about FCI?
Not from anything released, presumably due to the inclusion of delivering training with CWS.
Doesn’t CT-R allow for suitably WHTed and MOI cadets to teach revision periods on the CWS? Just curious
Different discipline, but I’m just guessing and you’ll have to wait for @bob1 or someone else involved in the policy to come along and explain.
Cadets can hold both FTI(R) and FTI but cannot deliver with Cadet WS unsupervised.
They can deliver with Cadet WS so long as they hold the FTI qualification and are supervised, it’s in Chapter 2 of ACP 16 Vol 1.
Cadets who have attended and passed the FTI(R) or FTI Course may conduct Basic Lessons
as per the qualification remit without supervision, without Cadet WS. On a DE on DTE, the AO
can authorise a suitably qualified and experienced Staff Cadet to be part of the instructional
cadre. They may do this provided that:
a. The lesson is prepared under the supervision of a FTI (CFAV) who is to be present
throughout the lesson.
b. The SAO allows it.
Not sure if this has already been discussed and answered already (so apologies if it has) but do we know the details of how/what recognised prior experience looks like yet?
I asked my wing team and they are still waiting for an answer.
Would be good to know what proof is required and what prior service you need to automatically (or a lesson delivery check by the appropriate authoriser) gain the FCI or even the FCI(R).
All the information needed for this is in the IBN. Annex A of the IBN gives a lot of detail.
Not quite as straight forward as you’d think.
The IBN annex A lists the following.
SA(A)(90)
Live firing and blank exercise qual with mortars
SA(A)(18)
Live firing and blank exercise qual but not mortars
SA(M)(07)
Conduct blank and pyro cadet exercises
SA(M)(18)
Conduct blank and pyro exercises
SA(N)(18)
Marker training rounds, which we will never use
SAAI
Speaks for itself and I hold the cadet SAAI
DTTT
This is train the trainer MOI
The other cadet quals are based on cadet CFAV induction / basic training which I imagine is not quite upto that received by reserve and regular personnel.
So I still don’t have the answer. The quals detailed above are almost all around safety etc and running activities. Over kill to instruct cadets on cam and concealment, hand signals, harbours, bashas etc
I am hoping some guidance such as if you served as x for x years then you qualify as FCI(R) etc
Why do you think just serving for X years gets you an instructional Qual?
Edit to add, this isn’t a snide comment, I’m after a genuine answer for how we can map service in a particular role to instructional qualifications.
I think they mean ex-regular staff who have infantry experience would certainly have the knowledge and experience required for delivering ‘simple’ fieldcraft, especially on Sqn where there is less concern around safety hazards.
This could be true if they have an instructional qualification to suit, just by being an infanteer doesn’t make you safe to deliver training though and we need to take each case as it comes.
The IBN points people at the RFTO as the arbiter who can decipher previous quals and they can reach out to HQ if required. The RFTO has to be able to justify their decision to their DDH.
Just had info back from on high.
The main quals listed are indeed for planning and conducting field craft exercises hence it’s all the safety element.
They are in the process of finishing a matrix which would say if you did x for x length of time you would qualify as FCI(R) etc
But ultimately as mentioned it is upto the RFCO to sign off people’s RPL.
I agree that you need a MOi qual (such as SAAI) to go with reserve / regular experience.
Seems for the first time ever RAFAC might take previous experience into consideration.
I also believe this request went to your Regional Mil Skills Officer who had responded so might be worth checking that.
HQ emailed me direct, copying in RFTO, but not had a reply from them as yet.
Anyone heard how the RFCO & WFCO Briefing Teams Calls went?
.
.
.
If the meme sites are to be believed (and when have they been wrong so far?) it didn’t go well . . .
Haha, we’ve been having a laugh at the memes.
They went fine, the person they are referring to is on Pat leave so was never meant to attend either of them.
We also answered all the questions and will providing answers in the FAQ on sharepoint so didn’t avoid anything.
Especially to cadets and not regulars
Fair enough
First response from our WgFCO in months just said newp docs were out, and that was it
It seems it’s just people trying to get at a HQ team for no reason.
We just don’t understand the other memes, we’re all M Quals and held fieldcraft instruction Quals for years and practice the Quals on a regular basis supporting Wings.
The lessons are the same lessons as the ACF so the one about the unsafe lesson was baffling.
