The two years start from appointment apparently, although it turns out you need to do at least a full year post OIC before you can get your promotion. Or at least that’s what delayed mine as the system tells them that. Not written anywhere that I could find but I kind of gave up arguing with them.
Like I said, the system is full of holes with no-one sense checking that what one group are telling us matches with what the other group are doing.
That’s like me. I’ll have done 3 years because of Covid OIC delays
What makes the most sense is that the people processing the commissioning scrolls/gazette entries are getting it wrong as everything else works nicely then. But they are completely clear that completion of OIC/probation is the correct date
Just having a look at the SNCO Promotion Matrix, and what constitutes an executive role at camp? Would helping staff the RIAT First Aid Team be an executive role? Would it be Drill & Discipline? Doesn’t seem to pinpoint exactly what is being asked for.
The camps I’ve been on have had SNCOs as Camp WO but all other roles have been filled by officers (apart from one where the camp trg off was a CI).
There are too few camps now for all those who need to complete the matrix to attend. Or it means people due for promotion are picked to attend over an SME.
ACP20 has been updated (this time under the radar) with a new SNCO/WO Matrix albeit changes not highlighted. Officially states that WO promotion are only to be given for a vacant role the Rgnl Comdt deems WO rank is essential. In gospel now rather than email chains etc
