Promotion Matrix

Don’t worry, it’ll be on social media later tonight

Might be worth someone asking again now things are coming to light. The RCs weren’t aware as far as I know.

Sorry…being thick here.
Why are promotions ‘on pause’…?

Is it the actual promotion or the system update that’s paused?
If it’s just admin, then HQAC should authorise Wg cdrs to allow promoted staff to wear their new ranks, whilst sms catches up.

Because they can’t be arsed. Despite the rhetoric, nobody actually values the volunteer.

It was paused for the acp 20 update then recommenced… Had it paused again?!

True that.

The CS dont have values or not any they uphold.

not in RAFAC world.

Apparently it’s due to an upcoming review into the establishment level of SNCO’s.

I hope there is a vrt meme for this.

Perhaps the email I received is already out of date. I hope so!

just imagine if the internal communications manager had been briefed on this and then the rest of the corps informed 🤦

Doesn’t explain why there are OICs out there who have ticked all of the matrix boxes but are still waiting on promotion 6 months later like the question poster on VoV. Reading RC North’s reply, it seems the review is to gain promotion parity across all 6 Regions. I’d welcome that considering a full 1/3 of my SCC had been promoted locally before attending the course.

Might this delay also be affecting new appointments…?

So what is to stop an individual wearing one rank up if it has been authorised at Wing and Region; locally acting :man_shrugging:t2:

Has there ever been a promotion rescinded by HQAC after going through this process :man_shrugging:t2:

It was suggested by local CoC in my case but our WExO said this is not allowed and that I’d need to wait for HQAC confirmation before wearing rank. It does go on elsewhere though, as evidenced by the fact that 1/3 of those on my SCC had been promoted prior to attending the course. I found this a bit frustrating as was told categorically that promotion required completion of both the matrix and SCC. My CoC were happy for me to remain a Fg Off OIC for 18 months plus as I was struggling to get the promulgated SCC dates off work - ended up arranging a swap with another candidate myself to get on a course. Interpretation of the rules does seem to vary depending on your location - hence the need for review and parity.

Now that I’ve completed all of the prerequisites I’ve been waiting 3 months for HQAC confirmation when those on the previous courses (including some accelerated promotions from Plt Off) have been promulgated in around 5 weeks. I’m guessing this is mostly a backlog due to staffing issues at HQAC but some clarity would be appreciated. It should be acting (unpaid) on regional sign off and acting (paid) when confirmed by HQAC IMHO.

Regional (and even sector) variations need to be stopped. And it’s not just at SNCO level. I was the only Plt Off on my SCC and only got promoted to Fg Off after 2 years. despite being OC. I never got accelerated to Flt Lt before standing down as OC of my first squadron. I am now OC of another squadron and still not Flt Lt even after 4+ years of commission as I don’t meet all the matrix (and probably never will). There are OCs with less years than me in my Wing at Flt Lt. I guess because they have a “pushy” WSO. I haven’t ever even met my WSO in person…

From my understanding, this is exactly what the review is looking at.

Woah. That meme is cutting.

But so so true.

Comdt needs to sort his poop out. Asap.

So many inconsistencies in our wing for promotion - it is beyond a joke.

I have been told that 1\3 of all HQAC posts are gapped or on the sick.

Anecdotally many are of on long term sick with stress. Being told that they have to do work has come as quite a shock to some.
