Why not? at not one point have they said the vaccine will be free for all and the current targeted 9 groups ends with those over 50
You mean like happens every year with those who don’t qualify for a free annual flu jab?

precisely - you’ve proved my point with a real life example!
even the flu jab which is free, doesn’t receive a 100% take up by those eligible so can we expect a significant portion of the population to be fastidious enough to show interest in something they need to pay for?
(perhaps i should have said - if it isn’t free there will be even more people who won’t have it)
Anyone who refuses the vaccinne when offered should be refused to share my oxygen.
Unless it’s due to a medical allergy.
That makes more sense, I know plenty of asthmatics who get the free jab but no one else in their households, who would have to pay, bother. To be honest I only get mine as I travel a lot to Scandinavia and work pay for it.
From the government/NHS’ point of view though if the at risk groups, over 50s and all those who have health conditions that put them at greater risk, are covered does the cost of the rest of the population, with less than 1% at risk of hospitalisation/fatality outweigh the potential benefits/savings?
Dont forget there is now an allowed 12 weeks between doses so dose 2 would be 3 months further away.
It’s a good indicator of the scale of the issue, their maths can’t be anywhere accurate anyway as the biggest issue we have is the supply chain and then the logistics of getting people in to be vaccinated at a sensible rate.
Please don’t misunderstand me I intend to get the vaccine when I can whether I can get my employer to pay or not but I would not assume its going to be a free for all. The flu vaccine as a comparison as long as they cover those most at risk or of costing the health service more than the cost of the vaccine the rest of the population is on its own. I would love to be proved wrong but reading between the lines of what is being said I fully expect to pay.
Much as this is interesting, please bring it on topic or take it elsewhere.
I wonder if vaccinne certificate will be needed to return to Squadron?
I.e. no return until you have been vaccinated.
Anything is possible in the minds eye of the grounds keeper cottage at RAF Cranwell.
So where has the Government stipulated such an instruction??
They haven’t. But if we move to Level 5, as is already being reported, then it’s highly likely the NYA guidance will move to Red for all age groups as it is already in Tier 4 areas.
Well ok, the govt is about to put the rest of country in tier 4… or introduce tier 5 - which will all be red on the NYA guidance - which means no f2f, likely for everybody.
But by all means, be pedantic about the semantics.
Robert Peston has already said it’s Tier 4 for all.
Kinda negates the need for Boris to say anything at 8pm. He won’t turn up until almost 9 anyway, and Peston is usually spot on with his leaks.
Tier 4 in it’s current format isn’t working though. So there must be more to it! But as I said in the other thread, not sure what more can be done. Other than harder enforcement of current rules.
Or…
Just enforcement.
Close all schools and universities?
They’ve been closed for a decent amount of time over Christmas and the London/South East/East areas that went T4 originally are still going up. (Based on the stats on here amongst other sources.)
which indicates having educational sites open is only going to make the situation worse
i can see a Tier 5 coming in, which will be as T4 but with these places closed. Since Christmas the rate of infection/100k population in our county as been dropping, it is still too high, but dropping. no one i speak to says that the rate will continue on this downward path with the schools opening - one of the town’s secondary schools near practically closed in December anyway due to the number of cases being reported and the associated bubbles which were affected
Need to actually make things illegal rather than just guidelines first. Also would be handy if they actually put a power of entry on the legislation, all you have to do to avoid prosecution at the moment is to not open the door.
I was under the impression some forces were using Part 3 section 9(1) as a power of entry. It’s basically a free pass.
A relevant person may take such action as is necessary to enforce any Tier 1 restriction, Tier 2 restriction, Tier 3 restriction or Tier 4 restriction.
…Noted.
(Joking obviously)
