Preparing to Return to F2F Activity... Again/Still

Apparently those of us in London and South East are going to be getting a tier 4! Boris talking at 1600 to say more but intrigued to see what it means…

Stay inside.
Close your mouth.
Protect the rest of us.

To be fair for me this will change nothing

I think it involves someone using a big saw around the border and casting you off into the Channel for the French to deal with.

I thought they were doing that for Brexit anyway? The new Kent border!

Does that mean independence from the areas of the UK that are holding us back?

“Guido” Is pretty certain Xmas is cancelled and no travel for London, South East and the East.

Find out in a minute!

So current Tier 3 in L&SE and East will go to Tier 4. Tier 4 is just tier 3 but non-essential shop will shut, and no hair cuts?

And Christmas is cancelled.

So, if one has a relative diagnosed with an illness and this was going to be their last Christmas, but they are in tier 4, and have other family close by so not part of their “support” bubble… does one, hypothetically break the law in order to see them on what will be their last Christmas?

My friend would, my friend has just said

In most cases I think people would, yes. And I certainly wouldn’t be judging them for it. Pretty sure it was Boris him self saying that people need to use common sense, and common sense there says it’s worth the risk to me.

It’s probably a good thing I don’t do Christmas

Also unfortunatley I live closeish to (dirty😉) pompey so a bit close to home for my liking

A stay-at-home order will be issued to residents in tier four, with those travelling to work or for education exempt.

Basically since March 13, I’ve left the house to get food / go for a walk / couple of outdoor cadet activities and down to the sqn to prep for reopening

The only exception to this was probably August, eat out to help out.

I feel if everyone had done this it would be over by now.

think that you are infectious

This is the key for me now, take your own risks and meet people knowing you might kill them or they might kill you.

Ditto

Her mums, who loves with us has been diagnosed with bone cancer this week so I’m making the concerted effort to minimise all contact with anyone including my own parents.

I don’t want to be the reason she gets covid or has any treatment delayed as a result… And being Mr doom and gloom I need to treat this like it may be her last.

And this may Include putting cadets on the back burner for the foreseeable

as a life scientist, I take a more pragmatic view I’m afraid, that I think you’d disagree with.

Every time I do AT, I know that I could die. I know people who’ve died cycling, climbing and kayaking, yet I still do all those activities, and I know that if I need rescuing I could put other people into life threatening situations. (yes, I’m well aware of the counter arguments for C-19 too, the impact on certain demographies, etc; I have friends who are A&E drs and family members who are epidemiological researchers, and they are all pretty lax about following the restrictions). I do have much more sympathy for people in situations like @AlexCorbin.

I make personal risk assessments based on the activity, other factors, other contacts, etc.

Wales announce to be going into full lockdown at midnight, what ever that now means!

firebreak #2?

Guessing it’ll be the same restrictions as were supposed to come in on the 28th.

Oh, but they are still allowed to meet up Christmas day.

The thing that is really GMG at the moment (I know wrong thread but relevant) is this constant mix of rules. There’s a meme going round with the whole “Have Christmas, but don’t, but go to your family’s house but don’t” or something like that. But it’s true. I don’t really have an issue with another proper lockdown if it is needed. But make it a proper one and stop allowing 100 exceptions to the rule. Too many exceptions and it’s not a lockdown, it’s just annoying people as it’s confusing for those who don’t follow the changes closely.

Rant over I guess
