HQAC are waiting on the MODs view as well, it goes beyond them. I believe they are looking to publish something tomorrow.
Yeah, you might be right! I was just being hopeful that they had got it all sorted throughout the day and were just waiting for the vote to pass.
Your info is from.
Ta
Can we expect HQAC to remove digit from hole and green light activity today?
Or are they deliberately obtuse?
A holding message would be a good minimum starting point!
No, you are being that.
The legislation was only confirmed yesterday so the legal eagles in the MOD/RAF have to agree what we do about over 18s as we are the only cadet force to really have this issue. I suspect that takes more than a couple of hours.
The teir system as voted on by the govt is the legislation.
The NYA guidance is just that, guidance.
Considering their entire reason for existing and their jobs relate to Sqns, it’s not much to expect HQAC to be ‘on the ball’ a bit more on this.
Like I said, a simple ‘wait out’ message would suffice.
At present the last we have is dated 6th Nov from the commandant.
Does HQAC even have its own lawyers or is it reliant on spare capacity being found in RAF/MoD legal teams?
Can’t imagine we’re high priority.
Approved by the Gov legal team and needs to be followed by youth organisations, although additional controls are allowed.
Much like Cadet Training Ranges is the base set of rules, but Range Orders can be more restrictive
The frustrating thing is that presumably the only delay is HQAC.
The Scout Association issued their guidance on Monday 30th at around the same time as the NYA seminar.
Indeed.
Prepped and ready for release.
The easy answer is allow under 18s initially and then return to the over 18 question when the lawyers can get to it.
Not to delay the whole thing.
Anyone know what the situation is with acf and SCC?
I don’t see why any further guidance is required.
RAFAC COVID 19 Directive Update - Dated 6 Nov 20
In England – in line with National Youth Agency you are to pause all face-to-face cadet activity until Wednesday 2 December. However, you should continue to treat safety and security checks of your unit buildings as essential activity, making arrangements to sustain building condition and statutory compliance, thus speeding our return to occupancy.
So the new NYA guidance applies and RAFAC specific updates will likely follow on the 18+ question. If you wish you could open tonight, the previous guidance remains extant - Return to Squadron Parades / Return to F2F Training I expect there will be revisions to these guides in the next 48 hours.
@Paracetamol rather than moaning on here have you asked your CoC if they have an update, indeed the RC is the DDH so you could legit contact him directly with the CoC CC’d for confirmation if you have doubts.
Unfortunately not all see the logic you spell out reference the commandants letter.
That’s why I am asking on here.
Glad you have assurance from your CoC that you can reopen.
Mine is limp and adding blockers.
But you’re right I have the option to ask Gp Capt.
Just have. I await conclusiveness.
I don’t have anything from the CoC, I’m just prepared to make my own assessment, and would happily reach out to the RC, if nothing else that would highlight the need for comms perhaps direct from him rather than trickle down.
Unfortunately I’m not ready to open so is a moot point, but will be back at the sqn on Friday to keep working through the checklist and making plans for our Jan return.
They rely on the MOD lawyers.
We are also unique among the cadet forces having over 18 Cadets. Which is likely causing some more discussion about how we can utilise those cadets and what criteria must be met for them to be deemed ‘leaders’.
The ACF have staff cadets in some areas now too
Very limited numbers and it was a trial.
They also have different conditions for remaining in place making it easier to treat them ‘leaders’ etc.
They’re not as ingrained or as many as we have making it less of a consideration, they would just tell them not to come.
Do you know what they are? Genuinely curious
that’s all existing policy
Afraid not. You would likely need access to their policy docs to know.
It’s not that simple, read ACP 20 and notice how much ambiguous language is used in PI 501, things like their status as a ‘Cadet’ remains, ‘As a Staff Cadet you can ALSO’ none of this means they have to take on this role or indeed turn up and ‘lead’ all the time which is why it is open for debate as to whether it complies with the government regulations.
As a Staff Cadet you can also take on a wide range of adult staff roles for specific activities and you can lead activities without the requirement for another adult member of staff being present.
That’s fairly un-ambiguous . . . The only limitations on what a Staff Cadet can lead are; the Unit OC’s approval, the Staff Cadets agreement to lead, no sole responsibility on overnights and no sole responsibility on parade nights.
