Preparing to Return to F2F Activity... Again/Still

I think the point is that local branches will not be organising events… Because RBL HQ have been in clear in telling them that they shouldn’t.

Out of curiosity has anyone been approached by their local RBL branch in regards to poppy collections?

Ours got in touch last week asking if we would still be able to provide cadets for collection duties duties on the Saturday before Rememberance Sunday.

Covid-19 leaves 500 Scout groups ‘at risk of closure’.
So it begins. The first real mainstream news I’ve seen talked to large scale loss of youth groups.

Some Scout (& Guide) groups have significant fixed overheads. HQ rental and insurance are the main ones. Hopefully some landlords have reduced rent during the shut down but not all have. At the same time some groups have suspended subs payments and others are struggling to collect them.
We (Cadets) are lucky that our estate costs and utilities are paid out of the public purse.

I’m only linked within the process, rather than actioning it, but I’ve been advised that for an air rifle (staff) WHT on the sqn, it needs an SMS event to go to Region for approval…

SMH
:rage::rage:

I think this is just so there is a bit more of a path to prove when things happened, not how they are happening?
It’s only an assumption, I just know that it is the case currently for me that if I want to run a heart start (BLS) course on a parade night (if I were actually back) then I’d need to do an application for that, not just do it then add the qual.

Hmmm, maybe, but never done before for WHTs. Bad enough having to get prior approval to run an air rifle range!

Going to be fun if we have to do this for cadets, not knowing if they will be attending or not.

I suspect it is part of the restart procedures, a lot of the RCs want oversight of the first activities people are running. Shouldn’t have to do that after the first one.

National lockdown being leaked in the news this evening starting next week(daily fail and sky news)… Guessing that will be a set back

What a total disaster.

Back to locked.out of Sqns no doubt.
Statutory checks out of date again…

More cadets leave.

More mental health issues for everyone.

That’s my job gone now.

Absolute joke.

Balls to christmas… it’s only 1 poxy day.
Sod it.

There is no good option. No correct path, and no ‘good’ outcome. Nothing the government does will be the correct thing to do. Sadly I think we’re too far in now for a lockdown to do much good anyway, both in a sense of how far spread the new wave is and also people’s reluctance to follow the rules.

Yeah 100% agree

Rule enforcement needs to be higher in the agenda… As much as people dislike it… We are all in it together and playing by the rules is part of it

Bloody hate it

Maybe those 20,000 cops that Theresa May drove out of the profession might be useful in such a situation? Oh well at least we have the direct entry Detectives.

But they are hiring 10000 more! That makes them good right?!? /s
I’ll stop dragging this off topic now.

Yeah, keep it on topic please, guys.

I think this time round it won’t be as fully locked down as last time. Wales still has open schools and courts. The joke is of course, that had Boris locked it down when SAGE told him to for two weeks, we perhaps would only have needed the two weeks, now it seems it will need to be longer.

I thought this government didn’t like dither and delay. Until they need to make decisions themselves…

We’ve been told, basically, not to bother trying to get the squadron open, and that we should focus on activities. Even though the policy says we can’t do activities without the squadron open.
