No need for an event, just go to the active cadets page, select the ones you want and then click bulk update in the top right hand corner!
The “you must book in advance” needs to be more prominent.
We’re holding off for a bit, the waiting list seems happy with our reasoning as we’ve kept them updated, but hope it works out for them.
Were still running 2 VPNs a week with good turnout, not as good as it was “at the beginning” but it plateaued and has stayed constant.
The opportunity now is the staff and resources to run 2 bubbles AND VPN’s, as we cant fit everyone into 2 bubbles. So its gunna be a stretch, but im sure our staff will rise to the challenge as they have for the past 6 months.

Wonder why there was a noticeable uptick in S&NI.
I think a well done to SNI for getting an up tick!
I, for one, feel the push to reopen from above. My sector commander is on the phone every couple of days, trying to make sure we are keeping up the pace.
I am, in the main, looking forward to having the Squadron open for business again - and am trying to feed the enthusiasm amongst the staff team and the cadets.
However, on a personal level, I feel that I’m on the front line with my subordinates, waiting to be ordered to go over the top - with the staff of Wing, Region and HQAC safely in their bunkers 20 miles away.
Does it bother anyone else that by doing this, we risk being having to self-isolate, and possibly having to claim SSP whilst our superiors are not sharing any of the personal risk, themselves?
Every day.
If I could make it so, I would during this period embed x1 wing staff on to each Sqn and place them under the control of the Sqn oc to help that Sqn and offer support.
Too many top heavy wings with people frankly sat on high just giving meaningless orders without direction or support.
These people are a disgrace.
If that’s not a risk you are willing to take, don’t do it.
I’m debating whether I return to cadet parade nights still, as I have close relatives who I am still likely to see who are more vulnerable - I haven’t yet decided if the risk is acceptable, and will probably make that judgement on the first parade night.
Each of us has our own personal perception of the risk, as well as varying levels of actual risk which we have to either accept, mitigate, or avoid.
So far, I’ve been comfortable with all of the outdoor activities I’ve done. I’m less convinced that the elevated risk indoors over the winter is worth it.
Yes, we have been publishing reports every month for Cadet Portal and Web-based/Virtual Training and Meetings on the Bader Hub. Latest reports have just been published this evening at
You are wrong about that - they appreciate having evidence of what is happening in the field.
That pressure was generated mainly locally at the Wing and Sqn level.
They do indeed - however, the reports correctly underpinned which everyone already knew was happening and it was good to have evidence of the impact over time and continues to be a very useful tool. Latest reports (link above) show some upward movement again which is great to see!
Don’t doubt that at all. It’s clearly stated in the return docs that people should feel free to say no.
Then we have the defence review which could hamper some squadrons opening.
Which will be interesting.
Why? A Defence Review (SDSR) will not affect squadrons or the Corps in the short term; only possible reason would be reduction in overall funding, which will affect everyone.
I guess there may be an impact on squadrons based on MOD bases which close in the review. But it wouldn’t be a sudden closure, usually several years notice given so plenty of time to find alternative accommodation
Weren’t those all announced earlier today, very little for the RAF and those announced Henlow & Halton are well known already.
Every defence review since Options for Change has affected us and the ACF, as we are too reliant or seemingly so on accessing military estate. Also site closures mean loss of personnel and capacity. Now if the great and the good actively sought arrangements with owners/operators for us to use other sites (non military) the impact on us would be and have been much less. But that takes senior officers having business nous and initiative.
Or you could just take responsibility for somethings yourself? We have plenty of arrangements in place with local training establishments that we have organised ourselves. But I suppose it’s easier to just moan.

nothing new i can see in that list, but some dates/years may have changed
Notice DBS Cheadle Hulme is closing. Perhaps our DBS applications can be done online.
Will prob mean HQAC won’t realise and DBS applications will just stop for 6 months…
