Preparing to Return to F2F Activity... Again/Still

In this climate, anything published will be out of date as soon as published :man_shrugging:t2: V3 is a prime example. Whatever is written can be changed immediately as HMG amends the rules of the day.

@Brooke_Bond see below that V4.1 has now been “released” or “leaked” depending on how you see it.

on a side note I’d love to have someone explain the version number system.

So briefed out V1, found a copy and Briefed V3 (even though it hadn’t come directly through my CoC) and now we’ve got a 4 and 4. 1 floating about.

I’m going to have a few days away from the computer and deal with V7.8.44 when I return next week.

Prob some thing like this…

Gp Cpt SW.
V1
V2
V3
V4… 'moo poo! We’re getting through these numbers…

V4.1… ‘ahhh better, no one will notice’

If you’ve read it you’ll know that there was an amendment made between V4 and V4.1.

We’re talking about high level contingency planning with a large safeguarding aspect in a dynamic situation - of course there are going to be changes. The latest was a reaction to the northern cluster and other guidance updates. I wouldn’t be surprised if there aren’t flow charts detailing a variety of “if this then that” notes to streamline policy development.

I’ve said it before: I’d rather have a majority idea of the parameters I’ll be working to (in 4 weeks now, potentially) than get to Sept and be coldcocked with pages of process and planning requirements. It’s not really a drama if a few minor details change - most of what is required of us is still the same (currently).

By the way, did you all catch IBN 32 on hygiene product procurement?

I’ll just leave this here for your perusal and consideration…

It’s a 'wait, what? thing.

Personally I think that a return to parade nights is the last thing we should be looking to stand up - why aren’t we meeting up in local open spaces for nav training?

This. Very disappointed to see the line in the return to parades document saying Cadets can’t attend off squadron activities until their squadron has permission to reopen.

Why? What a pointless restriction.

More than likely we’d need TOPL for anything off squadron, like nav training.
Depending on the size of your compound, puts into the question the outside element when we return.

There are lots of things we could do, but it would need no communication between mainly cadets on SM. As we have seen someone does something that doesn’t quite fit, goes on SM and before you know it someone sees it or passes it on.

I dont want to defend such stupidity.

But is it anything to do with ensuring cadets are prepped for events first rather than just going from home after a 5 month break?

Only reason I could think of, when i read it.

Other wise its moo poo.

Even if you did (which given the waiver for groups of <15 I doubt you would) then it’s not hard to get…

Depends if the people you ask are willing and it isn’t always the case as we have found, regardless of numbers.

The reason for many of the policies we now find ourselves with and a cause for hesitation to enable new or different activities. The fight for wider availability of blank and pyro spanned years.

This is a query I would ask if I had the chance. We know other organisations are running stuff, schools are planning DofE and other outdoor activities, why couldn’t we put something in place? Nav training has been mentioned, walking, shooting could have been workable, fieldcraft, there’s a local indoor climbing wall open, all sorts of stuff is possible.

Just begun planning a re-integration to drill programme for when we get back. I have a feeling there’s going to be some wobbly about turns but nothing that can’t be fixed!

I’ve seen an early draft of the drill RA for comments and I won’t comment much about it on here … But it’s fair to say it will take very little extra work to undertake that activity… Just a briefing really

Always good to hear. It’ll be nice to be back on the square I must say.

Found this and you have to wonder why they are handing out soap bars. I don’t know of anywhere soap bars are used in works or public toilets. We’ve used antibac ‘gel soap’ for 15 - 20 years at the squadron and will continue.

I’d be interested to see if that RA mentions the shouting of commands… pubs have been lowering music volume to reduce people shouting

You’ll have to wait and see lol
