Preparing to Return to F2F Activity... Again/Still

To be fair the government instruction is from Monday…

And it’s Friday now. How many days does it take for a WExO, ARC or Reg Cmdt to make a decision about protecting their staff?

And is only says should not must. And even though it would be wise to follow such adivse, they’ve been working in the officen and so long and no disasters.

By whom?

Which is never a good basis for continuing to do something.

Maybe I’m being too cautious, but I’d expect a reduction in staff in the office to happen immediately. By now, Wing staff can do a lot of their roles from home. Why increase their level of risk?

Edit: typo in the first sentence

Completely depends on the office lay out & nature of the work.

You can’t process physical forms from home & then there’s the defence system remote access. If you have two people on job share who don’t come into direct contact then it won’t make a difference. If you have an open plan office with everyone crammed together then you need to make the adjustments.

This is really down to WExOs to make the individual decision for their staff based on number, office layout & tasks to finish up.

With WHQ standing down a week today & a lot of Sqns either finishing or have finished for Christmas then the pragmatics thing might be to trust those on the ground to be sensible & see how everything looks in the new year.

No point running round & putting in provisions that are only needed for a week.

Having said that with the isolation period being 10 days - if you are planning to meet anyone Xmas day then you shouldn’t parade after Wednesday next week to reduce transmission.

I’m sure the WExO will have the paid staff in hand. Volunteer wise, well it’s voluntary so down to volunteers discretion. Although may not be a good idea to post pictures of any cadet Xmas party onto social media

WIng HQ. It applys to anything where the cadets may come in into contact with public :frowning:

No change in my Wing… WeXo has said business as usual unless Staff or Cadets are uncomfortable with attending the Sqn

RC North, in consultation with COS, has rescinded any permissions granted for public facing, uniformed activities for N region.

Hark, a Bader announcement.

Thankfully, no change.

Just hit the streets…………

Comdt’s latest is in your inbox

Surely no Sqns have stood down yet?!
It’s only the 10th Dec!!

If people want to stand down this early… maybe reevaluate their role in the org.

That depends on where you are located and when the site you are in closes…

Apart from pausing QAIC and JL…and we all know how long pauses can go on for!!!

Love the latest on FB about DofE

You can do expeds and residential abroad; well not until after Easter (doesn’t say which Easter) according to the latest missif.

And you have to be over 14. Has the age limit been lifted :man_shrugging:t2:

Last night, last night. Food and games everyone happy. Back on the 6th.
Why I need to re-evaluate don’t know. I’ve always stood down in the 2nd week of December, as it’s nice not to have to worry about anything else in the run up to Christmas. Cold, dark, wet etc nights, nicer to be at home feet up.

Not everyone volunteers in the same way and there’s is no point burning out staff & cadets.

With where Xmas falls this year it just reduces the stress particularly as both staff & cadets have other activities the volunteer for away from the cadets. Long gone are the days where cadets is the single focus for someone outside home & work life (& I do feel kinda sorry for those that who do have nothing else to live for).

Just because the Sqn stood down doesn’t mean everyone jets off into the sun & the place is mothballed.

There’s RAs to write, boards to up date, training to be planned, rooms to be cleaned, stores to be mustered, inventory checked, minibus to be serviced, venues to be booked & events to organise. Not having the cadets around just allows everyone to concentrate on those tasks with less stress.

Throw in the fact that the last week tends to be a Sqn social & awards night, with them cancelled probably simpler to stand down early…

At the end of the day the decision to stand down will always rest with the CO so it will be their discretion but I do know some squadrons have already stood down from after this week.

Welcome to the new normal :slightly_smiling_face:!

So Boris is doing a speech at 2000hrs tonight. But apparently there are no changes being introduced so who knows if anything of interest will be said.

Resignation?
