Yeah, I nearly messed up by promoting a deserving cadet who wanted to go on the course.

Special dispensation is one thing, but that also makes a clear precedent for exceptions to the rule. If this is allowable, then why not LLC duties?
Was Comdt AC aware of event? He was for the Runnymede and Harrogate events.

Why couldn’t high profile local events be attended by some of our highest calibre cadets?
Local event verses National level events . Again was this put up CoC so Comdt AC was aware.
Cadets can gain Gold Cyber by doing an approved NCSC CyberFirst Advanced course outside the RAFAC, eg with Smallpeice Trust.
Everyone Cadet should have most of the Blue Badges, only Flying/Gliding and Music are really a challenge for Squadrons to either deliver or have access to.
The fact that SNCO’s have a decent selection and we’re referred to as
Is a sad indictment on some Staff in this organisation to be honest. If you look at the brassards of the Cadets concerned they have a nice variety with the ones they have an interest in pursued to Gold and the ones they aren’t still at Blue, which is exactly how it’s supposed to work.
The part that I dont like about it is the number of badges and grades that have to be achieved have to be delivered off Sqn on specialist courses. Great for those that have the time/ability to attend them.
Granted a lot of cadets will never be motivated to achieve as many but more importantly many will never have the opportunity. Not because we as staff are not fans of the system but because of the time, money and commitment parents and wider families have to make to enable this to happen. Not every cadet is in the social or financial situation to facilitate this.
Whilst i applaud every posterboy/girl with an arm full of badges and a full 3822 of activities and achievements there are many hundreds of cadets that through no fault of their own could never achieve as much
This. A million times.
Not every cadet. Only if they are in year 12
Back on topic now…
For those of you using Cadet Portal events for each parade night, what event category are you using?
Our numbers each night are still rubbish so willing to try different things.
The basic classroom training one unless the activity requires otherwise
I’d forgotten that category existed. Cheers!
Wow that’s a lot of admin
It’s not too bad, we have been doing it for VPNs anyway so no massive change. Just needs the risk assessments to be up to date.
Yes, but our attendance numbers at the moment are awful and we’re just trying it out to see if it’ll make a difference.
I am cheating and using it as a way to ensure no more than max bubble size turns up
Cadets bid for places (although I have never exceeded max yet) and once evening starts I cancel the event as we dont need an event for a parade evening
Smart, might steal this.
Do you cancel once Parade has started? I needed to change a Parade, so cancelled the original one - and it sent all the Cadets an email saying it was cancelled!
Interesting, we’ve been told we have to have an SMS event for every Parade Night, in fact, I’m having to do one SMS event per bubble per parade night, so 3 SMS events per Parade Night!
When it was questioned the reply was the Wing are using it to track statistics as per the return checklist - Part 3 : Unit Return of Cadets No 64. Resumption of normal operations to be reported to WHQ for statistic gathering.
Yeah, we’ve got an event for every parade as well. All being audited by the WExO
We are not doing an SMS application for every parade night. If the WExO wants to see they can check the registers.
