Credit where it’s due, a thorough, robust and clear document. Not too prescriptive either. And recognition that allow squadrons to safely operate around their own needs and get things up and running.
And folding it all into one document rather than relying on two seperate ones will help too!
Now I just hope we don’t end up with a million revisions so we don’t end up chasing our tails trying to work out what the changes are, and then how they impact on the ground and/or activities already planned and approved.
I do find it bizarre that where Government expect to remove all restrictions in the country on 21 June (assuming all goes to plan and I’m not holding my breath), we still expect “the majority of COVID-19 secure protocols to remain in place”.
That hardly seems likely to achieve anything of worth.
“Okay cadets, I know that you’ve all been out hugging, kissing, hanging out with everyone and anyone because the Government have removed all restrictions; but now that it’s 1900 hrs I need you all to stay 2m apart, put on your face masks, and not interact with that other bubble… Because if we let you, it might spread coronavirus…”
As may be, but of course they can “say” whatever they want… Once they remove the legal requirement that action will speak louder than any “recommendation” to a massive percentage of the population.
Look how much notice many people have been taking these past 12 months. If there’s no law against it one might as well be urinating into a hurricane.
It’d be a bit like saying “It’s not against the law to fly-tip and litter any more but we recommend that you don’t do it”
I’ve only skim-read, but it looks like bubbles of 15 apply to us inside and outside. The NYA has explicitly said no limit on numbers outside, from 29 March.
I was reading a news article and several experts have suggested face coverings may be required for a couple of years post vaccinations…but this will be recommended.
So I’ve gotten around to reading the new guidelines. So far so good. Just got to box 9 and it states:
· For off-unit activity, CFAV may join only one bubble per day.
Does this mean running multi-group activities can’t happen? For example say I wanted to run 3 BLS courses on a Saturday, is that not allowed as I would have interacted with 3 separate bubbles?
It may well be better explained elsewhere but just a quick one for the hive mind!
It seems that way which would mean not having Cadets taking part in multiple serials run by different staff. Staff would have to stay with the Cadet bubble through they day. Unless I misread it.
Yep, it’s a DDH decision I think. Also the principle last time behind that approach (in W&W at least) was to try and harmonise expectations across the Wings and to build confidence in the WATTOs approach to reviewing applications under COVID restrictions for the DDH, as they would be reviewing and approving the vast majority. Everyone had reviewed applications by end of the last easing, we’d shared a lot of lessons learned from initial sessions etc. so approvals were delegated back down with RATTO oversight & audit of applications, plus some visits.
Some interesting comments. You can do range work but not clay pigeon, due to supervision not allowing social distancing; surely the same can be said about range work on the firing point. First timers on a range need close supervision, experienced clay shooters don’t.
