Will have to see if I can get a local LLA or MIAS course booked and get some staff skilled up instead.

I think that’s the best we can aim for at the moment. I’m going to try and put on some CPD days for those within a reasonable travel distance of my area and maybe try and squeeze out an FSRT / PSI.

Our local scouts are only returning in September.

I think they have a lot of flexibility, but that does seem a long way off

Are we expecting an official stance from HQAC or just Sqns assume like in Dec 2020 after lockdown 2 and go from NYA?

Several units in our wing have already received approval from Region to reopen, so it seems the wheels are turning.

I assume that is ‘done everything that needs to be done to allow reopening when we are told safe to do so’

agreed

I believe there are half a dozen units in our wing who were either about to open or for 1-2 had actually returned post Lockdown 1/pre-Lockdown 2.
I can’t say i know what might have changed between Oct/November and March to need updating but suspect those same units are still “cleared” for a return…

HQ should be producing updated guidance to go with the new timelines. They never seem to be quick about this though.

Regions are putting out informal guidance so as people can start planning but it’s all still very flexible until the MOD have confirmed what the official approach is.

CAC’s weekly update on Facebook:

WEEKLY UPDATE
It’s been a long a busy week, but one characterised by hope as we have now seen the legislation that will underpin the Roadmap out of COVID Restrictions for the youth sector, albeit only in England at present (do take a look at the The National Youth Agency website); we should see plans for the Devolved Nations of the UK in the next week or two. Nevertheless, I’ll be writing out later today to detail our plans for the ATC and CCF(RAF), but please note that COVID secure protocols will remain in place, with any dates for restarting activity marked as ‘no earlier than’.

It’s almost like he’s on top of things.

We’re through the looking glass here people…

Nothing particularly surprising in that.
Main problem is that we can do outdoor activities, but can’t run first aid courses to get all the instructors up to date…

To be fair, it looks like you will be able to run non-residential first aid courses from the 12th of April, which is only 2 weeks after being allowed to do outdoor stuff again.

If you were keen to get staff skilled-up first aid wise, you could look at getting an instructor in to deliver a REC outdoor first aid course? I think they can be run fully outdoors, and is approved by RYA, BCU and MTUK.

Link was broken on mine too, but it’s the first item on the Sharepoint homepage…

I’d actually like to do a REC course if one comes up. More useful for the scenarios I might find myself in than FAAW.
