Preparing to Return to F2F Activity... Again/Still

Are these updates only published on Facebook?

Really useful summary thanks. A small item that you might want to add is that, during outdoors activities, young people can access indoors for welfare purposes. Toilet and topping up water were examples given during the webinar. I think that opens up activities around the Sqn e.g. drill, leadership tasks, some radio practical, simple sports etc

The NYA updates?

The ones from the commandant…

I’ve only ever seen his weekly updates on social media never seen them put in to a doc on Bader anywhere. Might be something to suggest though unless I’ve just not noticed something and others know where they are.

@pEp can we stay on topic :joy::joy:

I think he’s just following on from Dawn with these although much shrunk down. But yes Social Media only.

A monthly/quarterly digest from CAC & RCs might help lift the lid on there day to day to use on the coal face would be good though

I think the point with his updates is that they’re nice to know, not need to know, hence social media.

I see a new list of DST D1 Driver Training dates have been added to SharePoint. First date is 12th of Apr.

I was due to be on a course last September and they cancelled it. I emailed about the dates this morning and was told that unfortunately we’ve just got to wait until the MoD says we can attend. The guy at HQAC was very apologetic but says it’s out of their hands.

Theses dates were added to SharePoint 3 days ago. I guess they are right though in that there is still absolutely no way of knowing if anyone will be able to actually attend any of the dates.

My guess was nothing before 12th April indoors, and to be honest, what I was starting to plan too.

We did have a word of caution from our WExO in the last few days saying not to premept anything though until HQAC release their dictat. Hopefully they will stick to the NYA guidance again, but maybe they will be more conservative in their approach.

Scouts UK announcement…

From 29 March, we will move to Amber with Groups allowed to meet outdoors in group sizes of 15 plus Leaders (5 maximum). From 12 April, both outdoors and indoors meetings will be allowed in group sizes of 15 plus Leaders (5 maximum). From 12 April, you’ll be allowed to take part in non-residential day trips and visits.

What I haven’t seen yet is what distancing measures they want. If we could have indoor from April the 12th are they still expecting groups to be at 2m distance? I didn’t hear that in the NYA briefing but I joined a few minutes late.

They did say in the briefing 2m or 1m with facemasks.
No change from previous

Not having residential stuff until June will make training course provision difficult still, which is a shame. Means areas near to course directors are going to be well off but those without might end up with a skills gap.

The NYA said residentials could happen from May didn’t they?

I think so, but their site only goes up to Step 1A, 8 March atm.

The Scouts said last night they will update on Residentials at a future point, their guidance only goes up to Step 3 (May).

Section 11 of their doc says camping only initially.

I love how DfE and DCMS have got their approaches alligned. Guidance for schools from Monday includes no trips and no residential activity.

Sigh.

Never expect government departments to liaise and work together. It was easier working with the Palestinian Authority and UN on a project than it was getting DCMS to engage with us in the Home Office on the same thing
