Preparing to Return to F2F Activity... Again/Still

So, the suggestion is that schools and after school clubs will be back early March…
Looking positive for us getting back sooner rather than later.

We’ll hopefully be in line with grass roots sports but it may be later, but looks like CCF could restart.

One of the ministerial statements said ‘outdoor‘ activities could resume but guess we’ll have to wait to see the law/regulation/NYA guidance.

Well that’s the first AT application in for approval for April in my AOR. Someone’s still hopeful at least!

I’m hoping to be able to get out and about doing F2F staff work in April, will very much depend on the NYA take on what is announced tonight though.

I’m hoping that we get some good news after today’s announcement and can deliver outdoors activities for cadets throughout the Easter holiday. Looking forward to 2 weeks of low level AT.

Our air rifles are in with BSA for 3 yr servicing, so fingers crossed for suitable shooting opportunities.

That said, most cadets probably won’t have uniform that fits!!

Probably right and given the RAF’s record on getting uniform for cadets this will the case for some time.

  • From 8 March - All schools will open with outdoor after-school sports and activities allowed. Recreation in an outdoor public spaces - such as a park - will be allowed between two people, meaning they would be allowed to sit down for a coffee, drink or picnic

My Italics

So outdoor AT might be okay from March 8th!

I think with caution being the watchword if we’re lucky maybe after March 29th will some activity be allowed outdoors but more likely April 12th is realistic. Would be surprised if NYA didn’t only allow mental health/vulnerable youth group activities before that checkpoint.

Based on everything going to plan and no hiccups obviously.

My interpretation of that was school run after school clubs.

CCF may get after school back earlier but watching the parliamentary announcement earlier it was specified ones that allow parents to work so don’t expect the same for community cadets

From 8 March it’s definitely aimed at Wrap Around Care for Primary School with Breakfast and After School Clubs - read childcare at the same site as education.

Just seen the term wraparound care used by the gov. You’re totally correct I think!

There also comes the balance of what we are allowed to do by the Gov / NYA and HQ RAFAC vs what the general public are allowed to do.

If we are allowed groups of 15 + staff doing AT in a public area that goes against the Rule of 6 that shall apply to the public generally. Sometimes it’s about general perception.

Does this clear it up?:sweat_smile:

NYA live stream on Monday 1st at 1pm should give a good idea of what reading of restrictions will look like for us.

Then we’ve got to wait for the MOD/RAF spin on that.

29 March looks it could allow outdoor activity.

Looks like NYA will have details for all levels published on Monday. https://twitter.com/leighnya/status/1363939438691291138?s=21
