Does anyone know if the 8 week backlog is getting any shorter, just finished a camp 2 weeks ago and about to assist with another in 1 weeks time, trouble is things getting short when already paid out for 300 miles of fuel. Is it true that a weeks renumeration takes presidence over 1 days renumeration, or if anyone knows update on how long the backlog is now.
Worth bearing in mind that in some circumstances staff can ask for an advance of pay which is (should) be prioritised over all other claims.
is there some procedure for this i.e . contacting wing or is it via squadron commander
Mine have been coming through much qucker than 8 weeks. My last pay went into my bank about 3 weeks after it got to Wing. I discount a week to allow it to get to Wing and for them to get their finger out.
I get the impression that after the complete mess things got into last year, 8 weeks is bandied around as the lead time. Like most service providers they give a long lead time and then when it gets done well within that you think you’ve been treated well.
fingers crossed then it from Riat so were all signed in bulk that was 2 week yesterday so will hope.
Fill out an Accts Form 81 (Advance of Pay) and send to Wing HQ https://sharepoint.bader.mod.uk/QM/Forms/Accts%20Form%20081.doc
Just fill in an Accounts Form 81. Send it off in the usual way about 4 weeks before the event.
You will receive half of your pay up to two weeks before you go. You undertake as part of the accts 81 form process to send in an Accts 80 as soon as possible after the event and they then pay you the remaining half in the usual timescale.
If you fill in an Accts 81 and then don’t go you also undertake to pay the money back. As happened to someone I know who was dropped from my Nijmegen team the week before we left.
I find it funny it takes so long, as they are all either service or civil servants up there, I bet they start chasing through JPA or DBS/PPPA if its not in their pay packet the following month.
But I forget, we are not employed, so we have to wait…
I wonder if anyone has worked out how much as a total, we as staff miss out on interest over a year. If we got paid (so remunerated) and got our travel within a month, that’s fine. But if we have to wait over a month, the ACO are holding back on interest on our money! Just remember how many staff are out there claiming and not getting within a month!!
Wow.

I’ve never used this and not aware of anyone who has.
So how do they manage to clear it in 2 weeks for an advance and not for normal pay? Just because there are less of them would not be a sufficient reason.
I’m sure they do! Remember that JPA/PPPA is an IT-based system which calculates mileage costs automatically and relies on the claimant entering their expenses directly, so in theory, it’s much quicker. All it needs is an authorisation which is again done via IT and the payment is made using the bank details already held in JPA/PPPA. The only delays I experienced with JPA were due to the Authoriser being away and their deputy not checking their workflow. Even if your claim was called for audit, they still paid it straight away. Unfortunately, HQAC still have a paper-based system which requires someone to work out the costs and remuneration due, then mandraulically enter that into BACS and do all the other filing and archiving.
Apparently, there isn’t (or at least wasn’t the last time I asked) the capacity to add CFAVs onto JPA.
I would suggest that the accounts staff simply filter the F81s and action them ahead of F80s and 1771s because the individual has a perceived greater need of the money due to their work status and could suffer financial hardship if they were to wait the ‘normal’ time for remuneration to come through after the activity has taken place.
Of course, I’m not saying that HQAC’s current turn around time for pay and allowances is acceptable, but come on GHE2, you are one of the biggest grumblers with respect to HQAC’s performance, so give them a bit of credit when they can and do action advances quickly.
Yes. I’m sure that’s why they are doing it, to help offset the financial reductions etc… [where’s that Picard Facepalm picture gone??]
Meanwhilst, back in the real world, I had a record turnaround of 3 weeks last month - for both remuneration and travel. And got my slip sent directly to my home address - the slip arriving the day after the money went in!!! BOOM!
I met the commandant on my OIC 2 weeks ago, and she was very keen to stress that addressing the issue of time taken for staff to get pay was one of her top priorities at the moment. The staff at the top know about the problem and are working hard to fix it, so wait out I guess.
Im just getting mine from May… I am keen on the new payslip system tho. Much quicker and clearer IMO.
As for the F81, I used it for RIAT last year, I wrote Self Employed on it and it worked exactly as described. half before, and I think the other half came early sept.
I’d be more keen on it if it also told me how many days I had remaining in teh FY
(and if it was accurate - I got one slip through and it doesn’t seem to relate to anything I’ve done, let alone claimed for )

It does say on them - although, mine says I’ve claimed 15 of 28 days… my maths says I’ve claimed 11 days since April!!!
I got paid a claim for travel I put in the first week of May at the end of July but that was delayed by about a week because they lost my Bank details :S

I had a mystery one, it turned out, (after I rang them), that it was promotion back pay. (For the benefit of anyone who doesn’t know, the days I ‘worked’ as a Plt Off, when I was actually a Fg Off, were then grossed up to the proper pay.)
But If I’m correct Incubus, you’re at the top of your tree, so perhaps they added in some uniform allowance or something?
On the same day in Jun, two payments went to my Bank, each one for a day’s pay, but for some reason, they were different amounts. Only 40p different mind you, but seeing as they were for consecutive weekends, it’s a bit odd!
But If I’m correct Incubus, you’re at the top of your tree, so perhaps they added in some uniform allowance or something?
I am indeed.
This may have been an early revision of the slip I received and it sertainly doesn’t include details of days remaining.
It claims to be “Travel”, place of duty “RAF Leuchars / ATC Swimming” from 01 Jun 14 to 12 Jun 14.
This is utter nonsense
