I thought it was already in AP1358 that they only wear trousers at ceremonial events and that it was just us who was the anomaly. (Don’t Band rules specify trousers/slacks?) It’s been a long time since uniform was high on my agenda.
From memory isn’t there some rule now about not wearing skirts when carrying weapons?
I am happy to stand corrected, just dredged up something deep down in my memory.

Probably… I do need to swat up to be honest.
Band drill normally has slacks because of the placement of the snare drum support on the thigh… A mix and match of slacks and skirts is a no no
Arms drill - ground weapons and take up arms Involve knealing on the floor which is a challenge in a skirt so slacks seem to be of choice. Secondly when doing continuity drill slacks enable a full bend the knee position to help with the timings

Yeah, trousers for ceremonial has been more and more common for a while now. I’d wager that it’s going to become the standard and that skirts will become the optional choice for working dress.

Didn’t Princess Anne lead the way about 10 years ago from a ceremonial point when she wore trousers in full Naval uniform at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday.

I issue both currently to females… Only because I’ve never actually been asked by a male for a skirt

You are either scaled as an individual for.
Male x1 trousers
Female x1 slacks and x1 skirt.
Reality is if a female cadet wants to wear trousers they can if a male cadet wants to wear skirt or slacks they can.
They must just conform to EITHER female OR male dress regs. You cant mix and match between the 2.
It’s just clothing at the end of the day!

Well regs are regs…so it is what it is at the moment.
You can feed dress reg suggestions via your WWO through your Sqn Chain of command.
