New Dress Regs?

As im sure you all know we are now allowed to wear MTP. However i would like to read the dress regs regarding how it is to be worn? I cant find it on Utilearn i can only find AP1358C which states

“0218. General. No 3 Service Dress covers all forms of field exercise clothing, including the Combat Soldier 95 (CS95) range. Field exercise clothing is defined
as clothing that is required to be worn for training and exercises. CS95 is not issued as part of the initial kitting scale for either male or female personnel
except for those scaled in AP 886. PCS / MTP uniform are not to be worn.”

so any help would be greatly appreciated. Appologies if this has already been posted a million times i did a quick search but to no avail.

It can be worn at the moment it seems we are using AP 1358 untill we gat 1358c updated which is being worked on now

thanks is there a copy of 1358 available?

also is there an official response from ACO to prove we can wear it?
it seems we are using AP 1358 untill we gat 1358c updated
That is a bit misleading.

An update to AP1358C has been promised but hasn’t appeared yet.

While that we know that we have permission to wear it if we can get hold of it (An authorization letter and notice has appeared on Sharepoint), we are still waiting to find out the details on exactly how it is to be worn. We are assuming that we will follow the RAF rules regarding tucking it in but it doesn’t seem so clear on how it needs to be badged.

If you google AP 1358 you can find it online as for an official response are you a Cadet or memebr of staff? as the satff on you sqn should have had an eamil through about it

thanks!! im a cadet snco, im asking for some official correspondance as on our sqn we have yet to be briefed on the fact we can wear it. Hence why i asked

No worries if you look in the MTP thread you might find some info

I’d say that if you have CS95 MTP then just sew the badges on and wear as you would any other CS95 set - if it’s MTP wait for badge guidance and wear it tucked in, as per AP1358.

i have 2 sets i own a pcs set aswell as the original MTP with the straight pockets

That would be “tropical” MTP.

Having returned from an Autumn Camp I can indeed comment that the RAF are wearing it tucked in with either a stable belt or green belt (depending on duty).

The TRF is sewn onto the blanking plate. I excahnged my blank blanking plates for ones with the TRF Sewn on by the station tailor (they cost my £1 each). So I can post an image with the relevant location if people want?

My staff team wore MTP as above with blue rank slides and VR(T)/ATC gilt pins as appropriate. It seems that the RAF has moved away from wearing the subdued officer rank slides as even the Regt officers were wearing the blue ones back on MTP or Olive Green Slides.

Hope this helps a little!

Much to my displeasure. Things got very uncomfortable running up and down the range the other day, I had to leave it untucked.

I think talon ‘had to leave it untucked nudgenudgewinkwink’.

well, i’m not sure what the regulations are, but while mooching around an unnamed small northern cathedral city some 20 miles south of Newcastle-upon-Tyne (Durham, for those who’ve not got it yet…) yesterday i saw the local ATC sqn out collecting for Poppy Day…

the VR(T) with them was in MTP with the SNCO(ATC) TRF, and VR(T) gilt pins.

he was the only member of the Sqn not in Blues. tbh, it looked pretty poor, the cadets looked cold and damp - it was cold and damp, i was wrapped up in moleskins, wooly jumper, wax jacket, gloves etc… and only one cadet was wearing a gel-tex jacket. our friend however looked very warm and toasty…

In general terms, I wouldn’t give a monkey’s back axle about his MTP, SNCO TRF and VR(T) pins, that’s up to his CoC to sort out. It’s his apparent ‘coziness’ whilst his cadets are damp and cold that should be of more concern. Poor skills. As an officer, you make sure your subordinates are well cared for before you look after yourself and where you’re working together, you make sure you don’t have things better than they do. If they parade in blues sans waterproofs etc, so do you. It’s all part of leadership.

Stands by for disagreements.

With the leadership bit that is.

very broadly i’d agree - he personally looked like ‘i’ve got a shiny new set of MTP and i’m going to wear them regardless of the occasion, its my train set and i’ll do as i please’. professionally, as a warm, dry Officer surrounded by cold, wet cadets, he looked like a disgrace.

yesterday was a day for a full set of waterproofs and gloves (and for standing around, a duvet jacket under the waterproofs), it was pigging vile at some points - the whole display was not one to inspire confidence.

At the end of the day all staff should wear the same as the Cadets if the Cadets are in shirt and tie so should he staff I dont care if it hot you dont wear a short sleeve shirt if the Cadets cant same for CI’s if the Cadets are in a tie as a CI I was always in a tie

I see it all the time, but I genuinely don’t get why this isn’t obvious to people.

I’m also disappointed in your interneting, angus… since you’re posting on an anonymous forum, you’re supposed to tell us how you used your unarmed combat skills (learned off your mate who’s a CI, but used to be in the SAS) to choke slam said officer into the ground while his cadets cheered, convincing his two most attractive female members of staff to transfer to your squadron immediately.
