National Townhalls

Loads of info in here about the shooting changes.

This FOI appears to initial focus on RCI 4 in South West region, but what has been provided gives information about the national level changes, that SW were just ahead of the curve on.

(Also might I suggest moving a load of these posts to a more specific shooting changes thread, rather than the townhall thread)

Catching up on the latest Town Hall following it’s publishing in the weekly brief, Group Captain Simon has to be the best speaker we’ve had to date.

He understands what he is briefing, and doesn’t appear to be running of a script as is clearly the case when TK speaks.

Having seen an early release of tonight’s townhall slide pack, I would encourage people to watch it tonight and see if your reaction was the same as mine when you notice a small astrixed heading.

It is good information and will need buy in.

Don’t want to ruin the fun for anyone so I’ll leave it there.

It would be good if we could all get a look before hand so we can formulate questions!

It would be good if they varied the night they did the town hall rather than keep doing it on parade night Wednesday.

It’s just builds resentment- why should we buy in if we are excluded from the unveil?

Can you sum up for those of us not able to attend.

Sadly I think the townhalls are just briefings now. They are another way of finding out important information. It’s not really what a town hall should be.

They are good. Lots of info. But not ideal.

I don’t mind that because you can ask questions & comment but it the date confirmation on the same day of the week with less than a weeks notice - it’s just discourteous to the volunteers - you need to give a lead time so volunteers can plan & adapt.

Doing on the same week day means the same sqns loose out it needs to rotate around.

This is the first one I’ve caught live for a while, saw the new CAC one on catch-up, but “briefing” format aside, this feels like a positive one.

Out of everything, this looks to be the closest we’re getting to an actual, identifiable direction of travel.

Will see how the QnA goes to judge how town hall-y it is.

I’ve said similar before though, there’s a lot of information to get out there and change to instigate before the more 2-way aspects can become a greater focus.

Slides and transcript will be available post event. I don’t think posting content without context is overall beneficial.

Yeah, 100%. The work being done Wg Cdr Matterface is looking fantastic, not just from what I’ve seen here, but when she’s spoken before about progress. She knows her stuff, and seems genuinely keen and interested.

She also speaks in a considerate but concise manner, and comes across as having genuinely considered a range of views and factors in her plans and is explaining the benefits while acknowledging negatives and the possible reception.

I’ve seen plenty of “this is what is happening because I say so” out of this organisation in recent years, so this feels quite fresh.

Very positive news on the “timelines” section, discussion about proper transitions and staggering/phasing.

Right off the back of comments on “change fatigue”.

I think she gets it.

Yep. Allow us CFAV to process the new content and provide feedback. Have more talks, then finalise the content, then do a phased release. Not release overnight and hope for the best.

Slightly confused on the £30 for ChromeOS Flex. I thought it was free

Suspect this may be something to do with adaptations that have been made to the FOSS version. A couple of things mentioned suggest we have a customised OS.

Ah, very true. It would be a managed version, rather than a personal version.

Did I hear that right? Comments on Air Cadet Central being accepted, considered, and being factored into decisions?

I heard that too

Talk there of actually planning the lessons to fit nicely in 45 min sessions aimed at parade nights. This is the kind of positive thing I need to be hearing.
