MyRAFAC - Cadet mobile app for iOS and Android

Best option is to ask them to leave a 1-Star review with the issue in the App Store - it should then highlight direct to the development team without having to battle through the bader service desk.

The app hasn’t been update in 6 months so it’s probably been over taken by software updates.

Bring back the old paper 3822

There’s nothing stopping you doing it local - surprised no one’s done it yet as a way as a “new & innovative idea” - give it another 5 years & someone who has never heard of a 3822 will come up with it.

Great idea!

i know of a Squadron in the West who has…

is that Cosford by any chance? i’d heard that they’d had to start issuing cadets little cards so they could still get to Sqn if they’re app wasn’t working

no, I am talking about a Squadron which has created it own F3822 (i believe in an A5 or A6 format) basically copying the contents into word and formatting accordingly.
The Squadron is issuing this as a hard copy record of service book

besides - isn’t Cosford Midlands?

West Midlands?

Obviously their cadets arent recieving the full cadet experience then if they have that much free time.

It would be really useful to know what stations are not accepting it as they shouldn’t be accepting 3822 and should only accept the MyRAFAC App or their usual ID process. Feel free to DM me.

The app hasn’t had any updates recently, but an external review of the codebase for any potential improvements has just been conducted. Equally, the app was designed so that even when backend changes are made, the actual app doesn’t require an update.

The performance issues seen earlier in the year were related to the database performance issues that were seen across all platforms rather than the app specifically.

We are exploring what future additions/updates might come but the Appivate team are currently prioritised to other taskings and therefore any future updates will need to be completed by the RAFAC Digital team. Any enthusiastic iOS & Android developers that want to be involved are welcome to reach out to me through official channels if they’re interested in helping!

As a suggestion, a number of cadets in sixth form may be looking at this a part of an a level or uni project - probably worth pinging something out offering work experience - a lot of the CCFs would probably know their best pupils to help.

We are exploring a number of ways to address the need, one of our biggest challenges currently is the need for SC to be able to have access to the codebase. I’d love to be able to engage our cadets more in the actual build process rather than just the design process!

Does someone need reminding that we’re a youth group and not actually anything sensitive that should require SC?

I suspect it’s more access to the servers it’s hosted on than the code itself.

You’re probably right, and obviously there’s plenty of ways that the app codebase could be kept open and official, with the O-S part about connecting in to the servers kept separate…
