So, what do you say when the cadets turn up in tropical (CS95) MTP?
Agreed!
Why are people still making an issue of things? Youâve got what you wanted, so let the W**ts get their credit cards out (but theyâve probably done that already) and be content with it.
Sorry, I should have realised, thereâs at least another 3 pages of MTP vs Multicam discussion to be had!!
Nothing has changed yet.

:)[/quote]Our current orders ban MTP rather than PCS, so for now itâs a no-no.
If MTP is authorised, then I canât imagine that it matters much whether itâs PCS or CS95.

As MattB and I have already discussed, if I have to buy it, Iâm buying the CS95 style shirt, so I can roll my sleeves up properly.

True
Previous post should read - it appears that you may have got what you wanted.
All else remains the same, particularly the MTP/Multicam debate.
I may be behind on this. But I heard that the photos were taken a couple of weeks ago for MTP so they can update AP1358C.
Watch this space⌠(Although updates seem to take an age!)
flicking through the new PAM 5C (which i know is Army based and owned) all the new photos are not only in colour but are in PCS
doesnt orove anythign but goes some way to future proof the PAM
Army driven though mateâŚ
On the subject of âfuture proofingâ, has anybody else noticed the recent rash of Royal Marines adverts showing blokes in DPM? I guess they had them all locked in a vault or somethingâŚ
Personally, Iâm all for the return of khaki battle dress and Dennison smocksâŚ

I saw that ad, tell you what, good thing the rest of that chapâs section understood how cam and concealment works.
Can we bring back red tunics and pith helmets?
Perry Mason - Knowledge TestâŚWithout look online!
Q: Why did the British wear RED tunics?
A: Because when the New Model Army was created, Cromwell wanted a universal colour for the standing army and madder was a cheap (red) dye - far cheaper than the other option, which was indigo (blue). The third option - plain white wool - was already generally used by Europeâs Papist armies (France, Spain & Austria), so Cromwell didnât want to go for that.
Of course, a British soldier will tell you that itâs to hide the bloodstains, which is ballhooks.

Typical. Defence spending never changes does it.

I did have visions of the conversation with the section commander after that:
Cpl: "Jonno, WTF were you doing out there in the middle of the river?"
Jonno: âDunno, Corporal gormless faceâ
Either that or the bloke was probably RMR:
Cpl: "Jonno, youâre going to be bait, ok?"
Jonno: "Sure thing, Corporal! big enthusiastic grin"
Rest of section: âSniggerâŚrubber daggersâŚsniggerâŚâ
I always thought it was something to do with camouflage I could be wrong but wasnt it to do with counting troops red being harder to count on mass than say blue??
therefor hiding the true numbers of troops?

I believe this is correct - in order to know your enemies strength, you would count the front rank of men. Red is apparently, the hardest colour to distinguish at a distance, hence you couldnât be sure your enemies strength.

I always thought it was the new model army stuff.
