I think Burnham has missed the boat (unless Starmer wins this leadership contest) they aren’t stupid enough to change leader more than once this Parliament.
Also does he really want to risk being a 3 time loser?

There’s already talk of labour MP’s stepping down to trigger a by-election and allowing Burnham to stand in their place 
If that meme is meant to replace the cabinet members with children TV characters why have they kept Ed Milliband in addition to Starmer & not the others?

- convince NEC to let him run
- Win a by election in the current climate
- Trigger a leadership election
- Win the leadership election.

Well this is the last election result
There’s a big chance he won’t get it.
Isn’t there a random bit round constituency Labour Party candidate selection as well round Union backers.
The thing is, there isn’t going to be a general election, so if people really hate Starmer, then voting Burnham is the best shot at getting rid of him.
The Labour canvassers can recycle Reform’s “Get Starmer Out” leaflets.

That is very much a seat Reform can win.
The other big questions is around how seriously the other parties take it, if you were a Conservative voter in that constituency you would have to consider the hilarity of Burnham not winning the seat. Likewise if you were the Greens or the LibDems you would have to consider a) can we win this seat and b) who would we rather face at the next General election.
It’s the same way all the Conservatives paid their couple of quid to vote for Corbyn as party leader.

True, didn’t think about the NEC but I feel like Starmer is just too stubborn for that but I suppose if all the MPs revolt then he might not have the choice

I’m amazed that Starmer hasn’t tried the old, “Back me, or I’ll call a general election, and you’ll all end up losing your jobs!” trick. He seems that kind of a man.

It’s one thing to do it for any old by-election, to do it for a leadership contest woukd go down badly with the party.

He wouldn’t, because he genuinely puts service above self, and genuinely thinks that a Reform government would be an utter disaster.

Utter hubris if he lost that seat, and then Reform won the mayoral election. £5m+ spaffed up the wall for nothing.

If both the mayor and MP went to Reform, that would be a big red flashing light on the UK’s dashboard for democratic health.
