Mandatory Training

But if they have a named account, and use it to access email, then they will be able to access the SMS.

They might choose not to, but the potential for someone to be able to access personal information, without having to complete the required training is there.

But if they have a named account, and use it to access email, then they will be able to access the SMS.

Only if the OC of the Sqn has enabled them to do so - which I havenā€™t!

Iā€™ve got a Wing level account which doesnā€™t have access to SMS. The controls are there, itā€™s just if they are used or not.

It does a raise a question as to why anyone with an email account can access everything. Doesnā€™t happen like that at work. We have logins for access to the company system and specified ā€˜drivesā€™, access to anything else is controlled and a management sign off for permissions.
Why does anyone on the CWC need access to SMS?
Going through hoops is not why people join CWCs, the only hoop is DBS. Our Primary schoolā€™s PTA has struggled ever since people were asked to have a clearance.

Having access to an email doesnā€™t give you access to anything else by default. It gives you a login to SMS, yes, but what access you have can be tuned.
In terms of CWC that is up to the OC with how much access they can have. This is very similar to how a staff cadet with a generic account assigned to them can have their permissions changed so all they can do is login and access registers for example.

Have new things been added to the mandatory training list? My WSO has just sent an email with

-ā€œ All Staff and Cadets are to complete the ā€œMental Health and Wellbeing Courseā€-

This has been sent in the context of returning to face to face.

However I donā€™t recall seeing it anywhere else.

Nope.

Your WSO needs putting back in their box!

Mandatory Training requirements are detailed in ACTO 99 last amended in October, with minor amendments & clarifications.

Details on the Mental Health and Wellbeing Course are included in IBN 25 - Coronavirus - Cadet and Adult Wellbeing and Resilience Resource itā€™s a good session that I think is useful for both staff & cadets, but entirely optional.

Some Regional Commandants have gone rogue, mine is insisting that we all do BPSS even if itā€™s not due yet.

Although that might be because the Corps has only 9 months left of the 3 years we were given to get everyone BPSS checked; and with, apparently, so little progress made in some places itā€™s now getting a wee bit urgent.

I heard that LASER are allowing BPSS ID checks via Teams. That seems very pragmatic and something that should be rolled out everywhere. Can anyone confirm if thatā€™s what LASER are doing?

Iā€™ve heard that too. Teams check to get the process rolling with a ā€˜confirmation checkā€™ in person at a future point TBD once face-to-face is back.

There is an IBN to support this.

Our WHQ were accepting ID scans via email but only until 1 Nov and now require hard copy.

Memory joggedā€¦ That would be where I read it.

Iā€™d forgotten the IBN. Iā€™ll have to dig it out.

Seems odd to end the electronic method just as we went into lockdown again! If ā€˜virtualā€™ BPSS was acceptable in October, it should be acceptable any time.

Hallelujah - the mandatory training has been aligned so everything is done every 3 years. One step in the right direction at least!

But not fire training :fire:.
And climactic going to 3 years minimum!

Mostly Excellent

Oh and first aid has changed to CPR trainingā€¦ā€¦

ACTO99 should probably be expanded to include the mandatory training expected of cadets as well IMO - currently ACTO8 and the HSEP Climatic Injuries procedures mandate cadets are trained too.

Thatā€™s just cos it was previously Heartstart which wonā€™t be a thing soon.

Oh I really like there is a clear list of exceptions where youā€™ve already completed training elsewhere! Not sure these were ever here before.

Who ever SO2 Trg Assurance is gets a big round of applause!

Very nicely laid out and pretty easy to understand. Also to actual table is only 3 pages so nice and easy to print out and stick in the office for quick reference!
