Lee's Trophy

Hi all,

As ever, I am on the scrounge:

I am looking for some help with the Lee’s Trophy - any hints, tips and tactics appreciated on how to approach this beast? Also, if anyone has any paperwork they are willing to share, that would be very gratefully received  I dislike paperwork at the best of times and the inspection form is filling me with dread!

Thanks in anticipation

Cheers

 1. Have a band.
 1. Have a band.

In all seriousness, pm me your email an I’ll send you our visit instruction & forms from last yr.

Basically, let the cadets do the work!

you do not need a band!

Correct, if you don’t mind coming 2nd/3rd/4th etc.

 1. Know the difference between Lees and Lee’s.

sorry, that is wrong!

OP - pm me if you would like some info

My old Sqn was in our Regional ‘Play Off’ a few years ago; we didn’t get through. However, one of the things I picked up on was media exposure. The Assessing Team seemed to be very focused on how much (and where) we had been publicised.

I’m not a huge fan of getting the Corps in the public eye at every opportunity, particularly in the local press as I think people get fed up with hearing about you. Don’t misunderstand me, publicity is good, but not to the degree that I felt the Assessing Team were after.

Oh, and yes, we had a Band, which obviously didn’t count for much; unless we just didn’t publicise the Band enough!

Sorry, you are wrong. In this Region, all the squadrons who have got through have had bands. There have been arguably better sans without bands who haven’t passed the Regional selection and comments floated around include the “lack of musical input”.

Which region?

obviously not LaSER!

at least one Sqn has won the Lees without having a band - this is a fact

They must have had a really nice garden then
Having a band does appear to give a significant advantage - If you looked at the proportion of squadrons with bands compared to the proportion of Lees winners with bands (I have neither of these figures) I expect that the weighting would be significant.
Perhaps they should make the Lees the best squadron with a band and re-task the Morris to be the best squadron without a band

Somehow we managed to be the regional nominees for 2013. When I am sure we don’t have a chance for being the regional nominees for 2014 I may put out some more information, though as we didn’t win I’m not sure how useful it will be

The ACTO 101 is a pretty good guide to the sort of things that the inspecting party will be looking at.

Thanks for that - PM inbound

I appreciate what people are saying about the whole band thing - we don’t have one and I have no intention of forming one for the inspections. I don’t have the cash to set one up or anyone to teach it - I am planning to get another Sqn to get their band along for the parade bit and have my couple of musical types featuring in that.

How about something different, like a choir or babershop quartet? That seems to be the thing these days which add that, “something extra special” which is a direct quote lifted from the commandant.

This years winner did precisely that!

Really!?!

Yep!

They have a Sqn band and they sang for the Comdt

We always found that because we have a “newbuild” compound, and no longer a TA centre, we would never get through regionals.

why should that hold you back?
