interesting news if they are - is the consideration for a tri-service Cadet Training Team to replace instead?

Theyâre getting rid of shooting. Itâs dangerous and polluting.
Yeah⌠and my name is pinocchio
They wonât be deleted as there is a requirement to deliver under the Safe System. I suspect they will be restructured in to a Training Ground team at Region level to expand what is delivered.
MSW is the largest wing in WW and the Staff units leaving also, that leaves WW a much smaller region. MSW has slightly more cadets than all of the welsh wing put together. It has a slightly smaller population than Wales but is a much smaller area. There are large parts of Wales where there are no units within am hour round trip.
This will have a nock on as there will be a smaller pool of staff to run things. There are several gapped posts in wings already due to nobody wanting to do the jobs. Several RSO are from MSW. What will happen to them?
If they are primary RSO then the Wing they are/were in doesnât really matter. If they are secondary then it is likely they will be given some options.
WW is likely to take on W&B Wing to increase its footprint.
Not being funny, but as someone said above.
Rather than piece meal info and rumour mill, If this is all worked out, why doesnât HQAC simply send out a detailed IBN.
People have eyes. They can use these to read.
We would all then know whatâs happening in B&W!
Letter has just gone out on Sharepoint announcements.
Someone is watching thenâŚ
Good for them.
As some have already observed there seems to have been a huge failure of communications. It surely should have been to issue a document that provided the classic higher level Issue and Solution statements followed by a timetable of events/actions for implementation BUT with opportunities for volunteers to shape the practicalities of the change at local level. Without that engagement many may consider it is time to go.
A letter with no substance or detail. Itâs only through reading here that Iâve discovered over to the west of the Pennines squadrons are switching wings. Come on - We need a full a land proper brief from HQAC to stop the leaks & speculation.
Agreed, if it happens. But W and B wing is a lot smaller than what is going .
Credit where itâs due, a solid letter from COS - less ambiguity than CACs and with more details. Yes, it lacks the fine detail that some are looking for. But it clearly states the intent to do this with the volunteer along the way, rather than doing it to the volunteer; a subtly different approach than CACs.
Whilst HQAC have had form for offering this before, then going and doing their own thing anyways, my spidey sense is tingling that this time might be different.
This change isnât going to please everybody. People will undoubtedly chuck teddies out of the prams. But maybe, just maybe, some of this Astra stuff might help and move us forwards and maybe of benefit to our cadets - and the next generation of cadets too. MaybeâŚ
It also treats us like adults, itâs open and honest, which is refreshing.
COS is a very different character from his predecessor. I came across him when he did a brief stint as OC 6AEF.
Thereâs a confusing heading in the letter, though, with the section labelled âCCF integrationâ being mostly about ATC wing changesâŚ
Good detail and ownership in gaps of knowledge understanding plus stating where they are and how and when theyâll be addressed is a good move in removing that ambiguity anxiety, and questions.
Plus one for taking responsibility of procedural errors too and not just pinning blame on CFAV for daring to question the powers and guess the plan in the absence of detail.
Where certain Chumps in my current Wing go will certainly affect my decision making though.
We had this chat with the WWO the other day when discussing the possibility of unit closures. Ours was originally slated for closure, and the staff would have been split up. But we all agreed there were units weâd just refuse to go to on th basis of the personalities at those units already.
So I can see some people just leaving tbh, we all know people who joined a squadron further away than the nearest just to swap wings and avoid issues there. Imagine doing that and finding your old wing had caught up with youâŚ
From my limited dealings with him Iâd say he was very intelligent, and I know he felt from day one in the job that he had a lot to sort out at HQAC. Iâm unusually optimisticâŚ
TBH most of the ârelationshipsâ we have with people will remain. The same people will be at the sqn and Wing, unless itâs a sqn which changes Wing, but even then the likelihood is you would keep doing things with old mates. If youâre that way inclined there may be some new Region bods to get to know. When you change jobs or there are organisational changes you donât stop âtalkingâ to or seeing old mates, so why would this be any different?
If people are going to use this as a reason to leave, I would feel itâs more about the general malaise in the organisation, than this particular exercise, which is just another thing, to get people wondering if itâs worth the effort anymore. The lack of decisiveness by our senior management during lockdowns and returning, has been a frustrating experience, given what has been thrust upon us is out of kilter with what is happening elsewhere in society. The actual decision to leave, unlike work, has minimal impact on the individual, but huge on the sqn. Leave the organisation and we suffer no loss of pay or adjusting to a different working practice. We get 2 nights a week, many weekends and holidays to do with as we wish. Iâve yet to speak to someone who has left and said they missed the nonsense.
One document saying what is happening on what date is all that was needed and this could have been sent out months ago, and the changes made during lockdowns as itâs just a paper exercise. Doing it now when people have returned and started planning / doing things is utter BS and just disruptive. Putting this letter out once the rumour mill has gone into overdrive shows poor management skills and I canât help but think âthe letterâ is a response to the rumour mill and not because of any structured plan to notify us.
The changes will make little/no difference to cadets, new ones coming in will know no different and how much do the older ones get that involved or be around long enough to see anything different.
