Well that’s certainly a different name to what we used to call it…
Jelly bean?
…You called …
I mean uniform being available would be nice…
Being a tall, skinny lad means that things don’t tend to fit well. The only thing that fits well is MTP… which isn’t… even… from RAFAC’s stores because… well if I’m honest I don’t really know.
(Yes I’m a CCF Cadet. Be disappointed)
The brightside is of course it’s MTP.
Interestingly, it seems that all these suggestions have been raised to DPSG over the summer by Regional FCOs and then the Corps FC Desk…
Shows how long it’s been since I did a range day with cadets: they weren’t even wearing helmets at the time, let alone body armour.
i would add the blue wings to the shirts (especially as the jumpers are very scratchy)
I never knew the ATC had its own buttons for FSCs. I wonder why we don’t use those on jumpers for lanyards?
It took me moment and a quick scroll up to get past my initial thought of “why would a Flight Staff Cadet need buttons?”
“Flat surface cleaner” was an easier option to dismiss.
Are they? It might just be the glare but they look like regular RAF Buttons to me.
What has it come to where i’m interested in buttons at 8AM
Back in the day when I was a lad, we had silver ATC buttons for greatcoats and No1 HSD. They seemed to disappear in the late 70’s and using the gold RAF buttons was acceptable. Never seen the smaller ones on a chip bag, but they were used on the pockets of No1 dress.
They were from the battle dress uniforms. When battle dress was replaced with the shirt, woolly pully and trousers, we didn’t need silver buttons any more
We must have invented the little jumper button for lanyards at the same time as battle dress was discontinued. Wonder why those ended up black? They could go on the chip bag… but wouldn’t look good.
I was thinking Storm Shadow. Allows for a Launch the can hit anywhere in the nation.
When I wore battle dress at the time, the small pocket buttons were black plastic or maybe even Bakelite I’m that old.
Some Regiments of the army allow this
as an order of dress
Replace the shirt with a Working blue shirt (or maybe short Wedgewood ) and the Pants for Blue PCS
If we’re keeping Dark blue go for a navy PCS,
If we’re scrapping Dark blue, get some Blue Grey PCS on order
Why would the RAF wear navy blue trousers? (Please don’t cite the GPJ as a precedent, it’s an abomination!)
purely for cadets in 2C, i’d argue that our current Dark shirt teeters on Navy
So we should just adopt navy pcs…job done
