Basically, it must be a completely plain green/brown/black shirt now with absolutely no insignia
What’s driven that change? What issue do insignia pose to No3 - is it a uniformity issue, or the issue that many may abuse the range of undershirts?
I’m surprised that disallows squadron merch shirts with (authorised) unit badges and the RAFAC logo… going to be a fair few kids/parents annoyed that they’ve spent money on those to now be told no
Just pointing back to this.
Watch this space.
Or… or…
You just wear them.
I routinely wear UnderArmour “Freedom” and Sqn T-Shirts.
They are (mostly) in the right colour, how often are the shirts or jackets removed for people to know?
I think that will be most people’s response - so it begs the question: what was the point of the regs if they knew nobody would follow it?
But isn’t a problem with how HQAC drove towards individual identity?
Encouraged squadrons/Wings to go down the route badges/crests, only to back away.
Squadrons have spent hard earned money following this, only now to be told you can’t wear squadron t-shirts/polo shirts because they are now the rules ![]()
The rules were actually quite restrictive on this in the first places they got abused.
3A was meant to be for event organised by the Military on a large scale, and required RC Approval.
Some Sqns took that liberty and literally were using it as routine Sqn Dress.
There’s nothing stopping Sqn Merch, you just can’t wear it with uniform. Like I previously said about t shirts in no 3 there was feedback and challenge through the official means, it is being reviewed by a committee of people and is awaiting final input before a final decision will be made, so watch this space. Nothing will change until the rewrite is released though
I think one wing used it as their routine WFD dress.
I have enough issues with people ignoring the rules for plain t shirts in one of the vaguely permitted colours as it is.
The problem, as an SME, is if you have to go down to t shirt order, and a cadet is wearing, say, a sports team top, what can you actually do beyond a terse note to their OC?
You joke, but one of the FTRS Blokes I’m working with are cutting about with custom rankslide with SAAI badge above his rank
GASH
Very little especially as parents are less accepting these days.
It was used a lot before it was actually in the regs, certainly my old wings competition day it was routine to go down to T-Shirt order for certain activities and most teams used to get a bespoke one done for the weekend.
‘T-shirt order’ was always a thing when I was in the Army, despite not being mentioned anywhere in dress regs (as far as I’m aware).
Then again, we used to combat trousers with PT kit as though they were tracksuit bottoms.
For a one week cse? ![]()
As long as MTP is private purchase this will be an issue.
Also why I’d be wary of private purchase of blues, even with our problematic supply.
It’s why people can’t be compelled to sow badges on.
You can prevent badges but not mandate them.
It’s all just a classic example of us putting things into regs (because their has to be a reg) but then wetting our pants over enforcement when the actual services wouldn’t care.
