How cheap? do they have baggage restrictions like aircraft?
1x hand luggage (7kg) and 1x “hold luggage” (20kg).
So a much better offer than most short-haul flights.
Ive heard horrific things about flixbus
Crewcab van, four of us, ferry or Le Shuttle. Room for luggage and tents
French hypermarket on the way home if we’re still capable of walking
There’s no doubt that they’re the Ryanair of coach travel, but I’m thinking a) the less I spend getting there the more I can spend whilst I’m there and b) I might be able to bring my bike over and cycle to Sint-Niklaas (where I stay) from Brussels.
Alternatively I could just cycle the full lot, but that’s a 750 mile round trip on top of a 62 mile walk and I’m not sure I have enough annual leave to make that work.
Decided to check London-Brussels return flights for the appropriate dates. Including hold luggage, the cost was £114.89 return.
More than I really wanted to pay, so I checked Defence Discount Service and there was a 10% discount available! Happy days!
After discount I could save an entire… £4.
I’m not sure 4/115 = 10%…
Possibly because flight prices are weird. AFAIK the majority of the cost in short-haul flights is the take off/landing fees/taxes. So it might be the ‘base cost’ is only £40, the rest is those fees, and you only get 10% off the base price?
I suspect that’s what it is, but it still feels rotten.
Every other discount on there includes taxes and fees.
If anyone fancies a warmup…
Entries opened today for the Pathfinder March, Saturday 8th June RAF Wyton.
Early bird reg £30
Walkers step off at 0400 and have until 0000 to get back…
Oh yeah and it’s 46 miles / 74 k…
I know some squadrons be Wings who do this a single team but do it in relays; only doing half the distance. Works
I’ve been looking at transport options over the past few days. Turns out the ferry from Harwich ↔ Hook of Holland is only around £100 return when travelling without a vehicle, and the Dutch/Belgian trains are pretty reasonably priced.
Might have found how I’m heading over this year given the big uplift in price from Eurostar.
I know we’re still a long way out, with applications not open for another 18 days, but can anyone tell me how to go about securing a place at the campsite?
Whilst I’m still really keen to get over this year, I’m having to look to minimise costs and I’m not sure my usual hotel is going to be feasible.
Normally pre-register on the Doto Camping website
Pay 50% now and 50% when you arrive
That’ll do. TYVM.
Anyone had any success getting in yet?
I still can’t even get the website to load…
I hadn’t, thank you. I’ll try this way now.
Was hitting my head against the wall trying to get the website to work.
Yeh i couldnt get the main website to work either
