Classic road marching route location completed this weekend. Bit of a shorter one but hilly terrain.
Didnāt realise how āprivatisedā around Rutland Waters isā¦ Had to take multiple detours off the main track due to the requirement to buy a ānature passā.

Need to work out if my depleted funds can let me do it, but Iād love to be there. Also depends on whatever role comes next.

Group of about 16 of us going over, plus 3 non-walkers.
All but one staying at the campsite (they preferred the idea of room serviceā¦)

Have quiet night in, dealing with personal admin, nice bit of breakfastā¦ eggs benny perhapsā¦
Then wait outside the campsite for your friends to walk past, looking like death; while looking completely refreshed and ready to go drinking again!
Impressed you were able to get 16 tickets.
We struggled to get a 4th ticket until a couple weeks back.
The lowest entry number we got was 7,500 ish.
We all applied separately, with everyone queuing for a single ticket. The morning the tickets came out was bonkers!
The group chat was even more nerve-wracking waiting as each person said āgot oneā.
We applied for ours separate and only 3/4 got tickets.
Last guy got one via DotoSwap a months later.

Thereās still a steady stream of tickets being offered daily. Last year two in our group got tickets in the last couple of days - with a good couple of dozen at least being offered on the day itself!
Itās a shame that they leave the DotoSwap so late to begin - but I guess it gives folks the maximum chance to train for the eventā¦. Before deciding āactually Iām rally unfit and this might kill me!ā

Yes, indeed! Those 3 are Doto virgins while this will be #2 for me.

Any thoughts for next yearā¦ either Nijmegen, Dodentocht or other eventsā¦?
I managed to do RESUL this year, and need to sort out my medal for that.
Naturally it depends where in the world I am, but Iāve never done Nijmegen so would like to at least tick that one off. Whether Nij & Doto are feasible financially in the same year, I guess Iāll find out next year!

Iāve heard getting Nijmegen tickets as a civvie is very much a fight to the death.
