Once youâre in, itâs much easier, so worth joining a civi group (like BDWF) or a military team (if the opportunity presents) for your first time.
Once you have a walker number theres a pre-sale for âexperienced walkersâ (i often do this incase i dont get a RAFAC spot)
Iâve done Nijmegen once before as a Cadet back in 2013. Would I still get a walker number from being part of a Wing team which was part of the BMC?
Iâll certainly look into it but currently the thought of walking 50km x 4 seems a bit outside my fitness levels
(16 year old me evidently is way fitter than 28 year old me).
Yes, you can email them with the years you were there and they should be able to find a record for you and update your email address
What do you have all of those attached to? Your curtain?

Nah, itâs a cloth wall hanging in the office. Specifically for pin badges etc. From hobby craft.
Definitely, it will have been apart of your registration. email your team leader if they are still in the corps and as gor it or email central administration of the 4daagse as give them as much information as you can. Full name year of completion team name. They are very helpful. You will have to update your address as you will have been a generic BAOR Base address.
Iâve heard getting Nijmegen tickets as a civvie is very much a fight to the death.
Very much so.
IIRC less than 3,000 tickets available this year for first timers.
BDWF successfully entered a 40km team this year - with plans to offer another 40km and possibly a 50km team for 2026.
Feel free to drop me a message with any questions
So just to confirm I understand.
Itâs a four day virtual event where you walk x amount of distance for four days and the total distance determines the medal pin?
Sounds like fun!
Thatâs the one, but you can choose how much to walk on each day and that value can be zero if you want, or do the full 160km in a single day.
They determine the dates in advance and you have to evidence what youâve done (via Strava, for example).
This year, it happened to fall on the same dates as I was running my 25k race through the Andes, so I just used that.
That sounds interesting!
do the full 160km in a single day
Now thatâs a challenge! Average speed of 6.6km/h for 24h straight
Does it always happen in late May?
The dates have changed around, but I canât honestly remember how much by so couldnât give an indication of them next yearâs event will be. But itâs worth registering now so youâre all set-up and getting the emails.
Does it always happen in late May?
Just found hidden away on the website:
âRESUL Four Day March is an international four-day remote marching event, which is always held on Ascension Day weekend, next time, 14-17.5.2026â

RESUL FOUR DAY MARCH RESUL Four Day March on kaikille avoin kansainvälinen nelipäiväinen etämarssitapahtuma, joka järjestetään aina helatorstaiviikonloppuna, eli seuraavan kerran 14.-17.5.2026 Tapahtuman idana on, että Sinä valitset missä ja [âŚ]
So speak to your local WRMO about holding some training that weekend!
RAF Pathfinder next year?

Hola!
Canât remember if we discussed this previously!
Ultimately the organisers keep records of every participant.
Follow this link to the 4Daagse website - and more specifically, the âwalker number reminderâ page
You fill in your name, contact details and email address - this MAY be an old email address that you donât use or have access to anymore - donât worry, itâs a human that will be checking it out - just make sure you have as much info as possible.
If youâve got friends wanting to participate at Nijmegen for their first time - yes, getting a ticket as an individual IS like trying to find rocking horse waste!
We wonât know the actual registration process for next year until closer the time (around January / February) - but - if itâs like the the last couple of years - there will be two registration windows.
The first window is open for teams and for individuals that have completed the Nijmegen March at least once on the last 20 years. The window is usually open for about 3 - 4 weeks.
Any tickets that remain unsold after the first registration window closes, will then be offered during the second registration window. This windup is open to anyone - including individuals who are first timers.
Last year of the 47,000 tickets that were released - only around 3,000 were available during this second registration window.
IF YOU ARE A DUTCH RESIDENT - you can apply for a ticket through a dedicated organisation, a bit like âThe Ramblersâ, and register with Via Vierdaagse - you pay about another 40/50 ⏠on top of the ticket price - but you get a load of extra support in the run up and during the event - but it is only open to Dutch Residents.
As a non-Dutch resident, your best way of getting a ticket for your first time - is to either join a team, or form your own team.
A team MUST have at least 11 but no more than 39 people on the first day of walking at Nijmegen.
The members of the team must all be aged appropriate for that distance - in other words, if youâre male and will be between 19 and 49 next year, then you must walk 50k per day. There is no dead weight option as a civvy.
If you are male and will turn 50 or older - or aged between 16 and 18 next year, you can join a 40km team.
The 40km team is open to women between 16 and 60.
The BDWF - British Dutch Walking Fellowship is taking names of people that are interested in joining one of their teams next year.
They have team leaders in place to lead 40km and 50km teams - subject to numbers of people registering.
I must strenuously point out, that for insurance purposes, the BDWF cannot accept unaccompanied under 18âs. If an under 18 would like to participate - they will require a parent or guardian to walk with them.
The BDWF have over 40 years of continual participation at Nijmegen, supporting individuals and teams alike - not just from Britain and The Netherlands, but from around the World. Whatâs more - they can offer everything to support you on your quest; accommodation, meals, foot taping, three rest areas daily with refreshments and foot care, transfers to and from the accommodation to the centre of town and (subject to availability) return travel from the UK to Nijmegen!
Either click on the BDWF website, or drop me a message and Iâll try to help you as best I can.
I used that email and they got back to me pretty quick, they just need this info
Could be worth specifiying 40Km Military as im sure they differentiate between the Mil and civil routes
