CFAV can also claim back the cost of 6+ medals. There was an IBN released last year stating how much could be claimed.
I may be wrong, but I don’t think CFAV were included.
I don’t think we were included either
But I’ll bet they’ll say all have to awarded whilst serving RAFAC, no other way ![]()
That’s good. CFAVs in uniform should be on a par with RAF Regulars and Reservses.
It would be interesting to see your IBN
I’ve not seen anything along those lines.
I am looking at RAF IBN 74/23 - 29 Sep 23 (AL2 Apr 24), which only targets All RAF Regular and Reserve Personnel. I’ll do some digging…
So anything from the civilian emergency services would not count then. CFM and jubilee/coronation ones but not long service or other medals from outside the military?
That’s one for the RAFAC Dress Policy Steering Group to address.
Doesn’t make sense as a policy.
Finally received mine. I mean, I stepped away from the cadets 15 months ago, and never received a No. 1 uniform in the years I was an officer, so would never had anything to wear it on, but I guess it is a shiny bauble to remember the good times.
You can still wear in civies at official occations.
Sorry to revive a mega old thread, but I finally received mine albeit quite late.
Do medals have to be court mounted? Regs I’ve found say it can be done at private expense and I do think it looks smarter, but for the time being can it be worn as is?
Also, what situation would you just wear a ribbon on uniform and not the medal? (Not that I received a ribbon with it, but one of my ex military colleagues said this used to be the norm).
Can wear swing or court mounted
I prefer court tbh
Thank you. I do in terms of appearance, but just wanted to make sure it’s okay until I can get that done.
Also the ribbon is always worn, with the medal resting over the top and I wasn’t provided one either and had to buy it
A single medal can be worn on the brooch it came on. I’d recommend opening the button of the pocket it’s over, so that the medal sits better without the button interacting with it.
Ribbons are worn on all non-ceremonial occasions: pretty much whenever you’re in No.1 SD but not on parade. Also, if you’re being presented a medal you don’t wear your other medals: but do wear ribbons (including the medal you’re receiving, assuming it’s already been gazetted).
Sorry if it’s a daft question, but I don’t know what you mean? So you need to buy the ribbon, put that on the uniform and then the medal goes over the top?
The ribbons go above the pocket and then ‘brockets’ to put the pin through go above that. I’ll try to find a photo …
