I was at Mamod a month or so ago seeing some of the machines being stripped out.
Very sad sight :frowning:

Don’t a lot of the model steam people use the German Esbit fuel? I don’t know what that is made of though.

Our TSA:

If Sqn’s do still have hexamine in store they should dispose of the item responsibly.

So, big fire then?

remembering that possession of Hexamine can result in 2 year imprisonment and/or a fine . . .

Importing, acquiring, possessing and using

It is an offence for a member of the public to import, acquire, possess or use any of the substances without holding a valid EPP licence issued by the Home Office.
If found guilty of this offence, there is a maximum penalty of 2 years’ imprisonment and/or a fine

Yeah. Pretty sure if you spoke to a criminal lawyer they’d recommend not answering that survey…

Yeah I’m less clear where the law stands on organisations that hold stocks of hexamine. Therefore, while I’d be more than happy to just dispose of my sqn’s hexy personally, I won’t be doing that and will let the organisation work it out.

I wouldn’t go that far.

If the heximine is on your unit, then it’s an MoD problem as they are authorised to store explosives (a Sqn with the right security could store grenades or PE4 is the MoD was happy for it to be)

So no issues in answering yes saying it’s at your unit.

What isn’t advisable is saying “Yes it’s in my shed at home”.

I doubt many Sqns are registered to hold EPPs…

The missive from above reads that there is a disposal procedure in the pipe line, I think(hope) the survey is to get an understanding of size of the issue. Meantime some safety advice has been issued to ensure nobody feels tge need to take the issue on themselves, albiet not sure if everyone is away of correct Haz Sign (maybe, hopefully just me).

Hopefull an MOD truck will arrive soneday soon to get rid of it. I dont think anyone will miss the smell

Thanks - will take a look. Looks like something different:

Looks can be deceiving!
