It’s actually all there.
I’m.happy to be proven wrong.
I cannot see or find
Current syllabus
Current program
APs stipulating medical requirements
Etc
Is AP1269A on there?
Like I say, happy to be proven wrong.
Syllabus isn’t written by 2fts it’s written by CFS
2fts doesn’t have any medics 1269 is their bag
What do you mean by program?
Now now dont be uppity like that…
Our syllabus isnt written by Sqns, yet we have access to it all.
Airlines dont have medics… yet civvi pilots have access to relevant medical requirement docs.
Are you telling me that your pilots dont have access to the standards they are expected to meet, follow and more importantly report any deviations from during the year?
That. Where are the centrally held and collated programs of attendance. Where are the datasets which ACTUALLY show how many cadets each vgs flew etc etc etc.
.
The reason this has all been asked and came up, is because higher up this thread we were discussing assurances.
Now, in civvi world. It is possible to access ALL of that for each BGA school.
Each student at each BGA school will has access via the CAA and AMEs the medical requirements.
Each student at each BGA school has access via the CAA to syllabus requirements.
VGSs apparently dont, cant and wont.
This is just one example of the lack of assurance we get from our 'supplier’s of gliding vs if I booked BGA for gliding.
The whole argument put forward for not allowing ACTO35 is a fallacy and built on stupidity, self protection and jobsworthyness.
2FTS. Is a shambles.
And you know what, I pity the VGSs and staff as they will lead you to oblivion.
Frankly it’s a wonder that no one has made these points to the MAA.
The MAA are just another part of the self-serving institutionalised set up that have shown no interest in delivering real aviation to teenagers for far too long. We should tell them to do one and crack on, on our own. Without their ball and chain and too much difficulty we could get the cadets airborne and excited in short order. They know it, which is why they keep making things up to maintain their unhealthy salaries.
If we were a business and one of our suppliers messed us around, they wouldn’t be a supplier for long. They wouldn’t be a supplier after 7½ years of not supplying. They wouldn’t be a supplier after a few months.
Derived medical standards are in DHOs GASOs and RAs no need for Ap1269 as that’s medical standards across the air force and I don’t need to know the med requirements for diving or boxing.
Ftp122 the trainee manual is there
Stats are given to commandant each week as that’s through a civil servant on modnet it’s probably in there
3 Blue ‘G’ Wings
1 Bronze ‘G’ Wings
Recommendation to apply for a GS
Gliding is happening, and this is our second visit since Lockdown.
We still haven’t had any gliding since 2014.
You should flag that with your WAvnO & RAvnO
Flag all you like, if it ain’t happening within a reasonable distance, then it ain’t happening.
Either you are lucky and relatively close or you like driving all day. Nearest for us 2½-3 hrs each way mainly on ‘country roads’, so daft o’clock start.
Turning slots down due to travel is different to not being offered them.
It’s an hours drive each way for us.
We aren’t getting offered, but the travel is a stumbling block for staff. When it comes to family things I have and would drive all day, but it’s different when it comes to driving cadets. Have an accident and it comes to light that you were up at 0445 and driving some 16 hours later after effectively working all day, not I imagibe going to go well… Now if you got to a VGS and AEF and could get a good few hours of zeds, ie not expected to supervise cadets, different matter.
It was our WAvnO who briefed us to only expect 1-2 slots per year! (2 cadets per slot).
Apparently, the newly published RAFAC Astra Directive mentions that the current mode of operation for 2FTS with its fixed bases creates a lack of provision for large areas, notably Wales, and that alternative delivery methods, such as the BGA, should be explored.
Finally…the penny drops!
“should be explored” is notably not the same as “should be adopted”, however.
it is a fair point.
it was “explored” in the 2012 gliding review, but rejected.
“Drone” flying now “paused” . . . are we intent on squeezing all elements of aviation out of the Air Cadets?
Does RPAS encompass RC Aircraft?
Not paused, stopped!
Though I can see why if people are not following CAA requirements.
Well, suspended does not mean stopped but yeah.
If it’s organisation wide disregard for CAA rules then yeah I can understand.
