Gliding "paused"

I would assume so. Email the IBN PoC and ask for clarification I guess.

Yes. In short.

Theres an awful lot of ā€˜ifsā€™ and ā€˜maybesā€™.

How about HQAC point to a case first, then ban the activity. Rather than assuming and killing joy first?

Yes
ā€¦

The question would be what training is required -
Would it go beyond what the CAA require for a given environment for example? I could see a case for having A2 CoC but GVC would be too much.

It would be great if we could train Cadets to A2 CoC. It would provide a practical skill and show we take the regulations seriously.

Can someone move these posts to the drone thread?

Thatā€™s interesting, as a CCF unit we are taking part in the Regional Air Squadron Trophy in Nov. Drone flying course and race is on the schedule.

Iā€™m sure this will be one of those rules that will get waived for any wing/region/hqac activities. Like needing SMS approval for activities

Which TEST area are you? Weā€™ve heard nothing about RAST here.

LASER, details came out Tuesday via my TEST NCO

LASER isnā€™t a TEST area. You will be SE.

SW have announced a provisional date but drone racing is definitely not on the cards.

Mind you, are you sure your drone race isnā€™t indoors? Indoor drones not affected.

Of course more may well be forthcoming at the National Virtual Conference tomorrow (see you there!)

Iā€™ll be talking about drones, among other things.

Iā€™ll be there, though Iā€™m home alone with the kids this weekend so will mainly be logged in on my phone and headphones whilst doing the gymnastics and football runs

Can you point me to a source for this?

Weā€™ve got cades who have drones and they seem quite happy doing their own thing. Iā€™d hate to get them on the sqn and see the fun drain away as you need to tick many unrequired boxes invented by RAF killjoys.

But those cadets are probably breaking the law, which has recently changed. Thatā€™s the point.

Seems a bit of a general statement with little evidence to support itā€¦

Lots of our cadets personally own drones, have appropriate operator IDā€™s (or their parents do) and appropriate Flyer IDā€™s and are very diligent in their use.

A few also fly petrol model aircraft in their spare time with various local clubs.

Also, what state is the world getting into when we ban activities because of an action someone might take - itā€™s all getting a little bit minority report, but worse.

But if they are doing it outside the Air Cadets how is it our concern?
They have parents thatā€™s their job, not ours.

We or more so HQAC etc cannot start to think they can control our lives and the lives of thecadets, Christ even employers donā€™t do or expect to do that.
The problem with HQAC etc is too many people, getting paid far too much, with far too little to do, looking for ways to justify why they have a well paid job and or looking for a ā€œlook what weā€™ve doneā€ for their CV.

Yeah I mean what is REALLY wrong with drink driving anywayā€¦:unamused:

Thatā€™s something that people do actually do thoughā€¦

Itā€™s not really the same thingā€¦

Now, if all driving was banned just because a few people would break the law by drinking and driving, it would be comparableā€¦
