Boss was getting angry they weren’t trying to get another one in. I assume they just kept passing it around to waste down the clock?

Yes, that’s exactly what they did. Why risk a counter attack by gifting it back after a failed shot attempt?

It was an exercise in control and domination as well. They did similar towards the end against Ukraine although that was less tense. This time they were helped a little bit by the Danes having 1 off the pitch injured.

Your boss doesn’t understand tactical theory.

I think it was good to go a goal down and prove they could come back, helps with confidence if it happens in the final.

A component of the English so called supporters were in fine fettle finding time to boo and whistle the Danes during their anthem and when they had possession and now as reported someone shining a laser into Schmeichel‘s face when we had the non penalty. I bet their mums and dads are proud of them. You wouldn’t need to look too hard at the crowd to see the type responsible.

100% this. Not the most difficult of run ups but have now come through some adversity.

Beating Germany, comfortable against Ukraine, and coming back against Denmark followed by keeping them out and dominating possession to close it out… They’ve got a lot to draw on now.

I love this :heart_eyes:

@AlexCorbin Why’s that?

I must say I like the black and red

New third kit design is just unreal

C4 showed a colourised version of '66 WC Final yesterday. As my wife and I were too young to remember it, we decided to watch it, so at we can say we’ve seen the English football team win something!! Even though we knew the score it was exciting to watch. It was the sort of football we remembered (and I played) when we were growing up. More physically demanding and you sensed the ball and boots getting heavier in the damp conditions that day in July.

It was interesting to watch not just to fill the gaps in our experience, but also to highlight how the game has changed, not for the good, especially ‘tactical’ subs, the 22 blokes who started, finished the game, no poncing around changing players just for the sake of changing them. We were surprised to see how much Hunt and Ball were involved and how little Moore was, given how much hype surrounds him, we thought he’d run himself into the ground, so for us he was very ordinary. Plus a young Beckenbauer, who we have better memories of from the 70s.

It’s not come home - topic’s dead - shut it down… :expressionless:

Someone on the news last night said that it just wasn’t England’s time for the Silverware, although actually England were the only team in the whole competition where every player got silver :2nd_place_medal: :see_no_evil: :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Pickford for the Golden Gloves

Probably the greatest English football player, matt le Tissier is having a kick about in the football pitch across the road from my house right now.

He’s with Wayne Bridge, Joe Tessom and James Beattie.

I went out for dinner last night for my partner’s birthday, and Sol Campbell was there. That man is huge!

Sols a giant. He owns a holiday home about half a mile from my parents house and used to shop in the Tesco I managed

As the son of a Jerseyman I must object on two points;

  • The Channel Islands aren’t English,
  • No man Guernsey can be the greatest anything!
