Kind of like when you have a staff member get qualified in something which you hope will benefit your under-staffed Sqn of eager cadets who love to do new outdoor things, only for that staff member to say once a certain wing role opens up, they will be on the first grob out of town.
Trent knew what he was doing and he went about it the wrong way, bit snakey. But good luck to him, he’s seen how ex-Liverpool players have seen a big decline in their futures once they have left.
We had the same with Pochettino, when at saint needed a translator, went to spurs he was banging out the blighty lingo
To be fair the “English” spoken in Southampton isn’t intelligible to everyone else.
What’s wrong with what he did? He had a fixed term contract. He worked it. He decided that he was going to look elsewhere after it and prepared for that role. Why is it that fans of certain clubs think they own the players for life? He’s just done what anyone else in other professions does when they want a new challenge.

Liverpool retiring the No 20 shirt in his honour, what a terrible tragedy, which reminds us all of the fragility of life. RIP guys and condolences to two and possibly three families.

I’m surprised by the lack of comments during the women’s euros. I would have thought there would have been more. I guess the difference between the men’s and women’s game is that the women actually win.

Honestly, I wasn’t that aware of it. Not a big TV watcher, radio listener, or social media doomscroller, so was pretty out of the loop.
That there’s some uproar and shouts of hypocrisy at Liverpool men’s spending this summer just about penetrated into my consciousness.
Only since winning have I seen a lot more stuff pop up. And congratulations to them, but if not for Kelly’s winning penalty I would have said neither side deserved to win the shoot out. No comment on the game, though apparently the ref was wearing red underneath?
And Joey Barton can suck it, because those penalties were bad penalties because they were bad penalties, not because the takers were women. I hate that that guy gets to spew bile so loud when there’s a women’s football or women-in-football conversation that it reaches me more easily than an international competition.
How about you play for your national team with a fractured tibia, Joey. Not that you could actually get on the pitch for longer than 12 minutes. Should probably focus on winning his court cases instead of trying to earn some new ones.
Failing that, go back to flashing his butt cheeks at Evertonians instead of talking out of them.

Someone pointed out he’s appeared in court more than he played at Wembley, which made my day.
Liverpool are run by FSG who are very good businessmen, unlike other Premiership clubs. They are well within PSR limits and have another 300,000, in the bank to spend.

I don’t doubt it, but all the mockery of it “being the end of the Coutinho money” is funny to me.
PSR is 3 years I think and LFC have spent practically nothing compared to the others - a refresh and squad bolstering was long overdue.

As I said, FSG are very astute owners. They took over when the club was virtually bankrupt. Brought in Rodgers who did improve the team, but MHO didn’t have the 1% needed to progress. Klopp was brought in and made Liverpool a force again, I suspect that FSG knew long before the public declaration that Klopp was leaving, his team was good enough to compete when he left. The contrast is Man Utd, an utter shambles, several managers who have to work with other managers players whom they may not want, a poor training ground and stadium.
When Klopp was in his last season Liverpool looked at Amorin, but he didn’t play a system that Liverpool would play, Xavi Alonso wanted to stay where he was. When they looked at Arne Slott, it is rumoured they talked to Klopp, whose reply was ‘cool’.
FSG have and are continuing a rebuilding programme at Anfield, didn’t want to move, unlike Everton. They built a new training facility at Kirby, initially closed Melwood and sold it. They have since bought Melwood back and is now home to the Women’s team.
All male teams play together at Kirby, the young players coming up can see daily the senior team training at the same place. The Academy under Neil Atcherly has very strict rules for his players, no car above 1.3l, no flashy watches, no mobile phones at training, and no-one on more than £50k a year.
I would have happily accepted top 4 under Slott, but he has exceeded all expectations with the same team from Klopp.
