I mean at the like button we have now.

Thatā€™s a great achievement.

My missus did 5 stone a few years back. Looked great, but I decided I canā€™t have her too confident and got her pregnant instead.

Finally got the nod from my consultant to get running again.

My fitness has evaporated so getting back to it with C25K, but it felt immense to get back out again after over a year :partying_face:

Iā€™m at the really frustrating part of being tantalisingly close to having a healthy BMI for the first time in my life.

Excuse the metric/imperial conversion just being rough in my head, but Iā€™m about 2.5lbs away it. So Iā€™d be over the moon if could also lose 3lbs in a day!

The military has destroyed my body over the past 12 years.

In other news I was so desperate to PR on deadlift this morning I ended up slowly adding 0.5kg weights :grimacing:

I did PR in the end, but still canā€™t pick up my goal weight.

I decided that 2024 was going to be the year I got in shape - and so far Iā€™ve had mixed results.

I started strong, but had to take two weeks off from the gym because I was working ridiculous amounts of time to put a show on. However, I had my first session with my new personal trainer this week, and loved it! I also went to my first exercise class today, boxing! We were learning how to roll and dodge, but my opponent ended up not moving and I hit him in the head with the padšŸ˜‚

Chaps, perhaps prematurely, Iā€™m starting to become somewhat excited for Aprilā€™s marathon.

Looking at how the training is going, and which pace feels like my ā€œeasyā€ pace, I think I could be on for a 3:30 - 4:00 hour finish time, assuming all goes well through the rest of training and on the day.

If that happens, it would give an official PB by at least 80 minutes, possibly up to 2 hours! To say I was barely running before October, it would be incredible.

You also wondering how to outsize Giant?

I mean, my 5ā€™10" backside is not going to get anywhere near that 6ā€™5" frameā€¦ And the guys quads are bigger than my waist.

Finally hit my three short term lifting goals in the past 7 days.

60kg military press.

100kg bench, which Iā€™ve managed to progress to repitions, with a one rep max of 110kg.

150kg squat

And topped it off this morning with 180kg deadlift. Absolutely over the moon with that.

Iā€™ve done something that I personally find highly anxiety-inducingā€¦ and joined a gym! Mainly to learn how to do resistance exercises properly, but also hopefully for social reasons too.

Wish me luck!

I still definitely need my early morning solo runs though.

Really depends on what sort of gym you have joined, unless they have classes specifically focused to people meeting I find a lot of gyms quite anonymous places. People turn up with headphones in, do their routine and go home again.

If you want to learn how to do resistance work properly then hire a well reviewed PT from the local area, some may be linked to a particular gym, others wonā€™t be and will use whatever gym you are in.

I have also joined a gym!

On Monday we (missus & I) went to a Spin classā€¦ oh my god!

To be fair, itā€™s only the local PureGym - although I did take out the Plus membership so I can use their gyms near my office too for when I have to travel in.

The idea is for me to attend some of the classes on a regular basis. My hope is that itā€™ll largely be the same people on each occurance and thus thereā€™s a reason to eventually begin chatting to one-another. Time will tell whether this approach works or not.

A PT may be on the cards after the marathon.
