13st 1 at SW last night. Makes me 1lb off my initial target but I’m at a crossroads!

On one hand I would like to be around 12st, on the other hand I really can’t be bothered with SW anymore,… I want a pint and a maccys without having to have salad the rest of the week!

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with taking a break, just so long as you can trust yourself to set a time limit for your break and stick to it.

The difference between 13st and 12st for me (at 5’9") was really quite noticeable.

I’ve had a bit of a plateau over the past week, which I’m pleased to say I’ve now broken.

For the first time since school, my weight in stones now begins with an 11 (11st 12lbs), giving me a BMI of 24.6 as of this morning.

Better still, this morning’s workout was a tempo session (8 mins at tempo pace, 5 mins recovery x2 with warm up and cool down either side) and I smashed it out in the warm weather. The pace would have given me a parkrun in the low 20 minutes for the first time in 6 years!

The end of next week is the halfway point for the marathon training block and I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone!

That was a really good run, very tough in places but the full 12 miles finished.

Always a nice compliment to have a random stranger come up once I had just finished and ask me how to start running, as well as for tips with his diet.

Happy to help, random stranger, and I hope my suggestions work for you.

My finger has been hovering over the purchase entry for the Windsor 1/2 Marathon for a few days now…

Quick someone talk me into it… (or out of it :joy:)

Imagine knowing you could have the bling hanging up and regretting not having it there when you see the event photos after it’s been run.

If i do, is is worth buying a training plan or what would you say the best “free” one is?

Ive got a few 10km medals… i fancy a few more impressive ones!

I’d say the best free plan is the one below that I definitely haven’t photographed…

If you’re already running 10ks, a step up to a half marathon isn’t as difficult as it seems despite being twice the distance.

If you don’t fancy this one, Runner’s World do have plenty of good quality free plans.

Before I started in October, I took some baseline blood pressure measurements.

Systolic: 119 - 125 / Diastolic: 78 - 82

Not bad, but creeping towards the top end of healthy on the systolic side.

Just taken these measurements today, fitting a general trend since starting. Happy with that.

Smashed my treadmill PB yesterday with a 5k run on an incline of 3 at 25m 34s. 10 seconds faster than previous.

5K road run will probably be faster than my current PB but I’m somewhat of a ‘fair weather runner’.

I’ve never seen this before. My HR immediately after going to bed last night dropped off so much that my Garmin stopped recording it!

Perfectly willing to write this off as an error, but it does match the pattern of the day, with multiple readings around 40 earlier in the day.

Yeah it’s mad how low the RHR drops to sometimes.

It’s usually followed up with the other half shouting “you’ve had how many notifications today!” :joy:

The shouting will certainly cause a 210 maxHR. I’m currently registering an official 206 maxHR, but only on a parkrun sprint finish.

Yeah I don’t have the low HR notifications turned on, but I never really expected to cross them. Well, at least not until I’m regularly doing ultras.

Which interface is that? I don’t recognise it.

haha, that would have been from one of my “sprint” finishes too

It’s Apple Health, I use my Apple Watch and workouts to track stuff

I won’t be ready for it this year, but you better believe I’m targeting this for 2025:

Sub 55min 10k at the London Winter Run today… not a PB but sub 55 was my target.

Not bad after a Niji training stroll yesterday

I find this sort of info really interesting, especially knowing that I was one of those numbers until very recently, and having seen a definite increase in the numbers of larger cadets.

Update: hit 12stone 12 on Tuesday so that’s 3 stone in about 25 weeks.

Made the decision that it’s my target hit. Yes I could probably do with a few more pounds off but as progress has slowed anyway, if it happens then it does but now my main focus is not slipping into bad habits and putting weight back on!
