We can’t SORN ours because the V5Cs are on the squadron and you need the 12 digit reference number printed on there to do it.
In terms of getting into the unit to see those, remember the 11th commandment. Thou shalt not get caught.
Indeed - Cleanliness is next to Godliness as far as Scenes of Crime are concerned…
Actually, I’m convinced that there’s a way of digging the 12 digit V5C numbernber out of the DVLA/Gov.UK website.
Phone them
Or more to the point “Thou will not get caught” as not a single visit will be allowed to a squadron by full time staff either, just make sure you do it after 5 (or after 12 on a Friday) as a just in case
The only trick there is keeping track of the days. Is it Friday today?
I have no idea, the only thing i track now is toilet paper. I have 4 left.
Make sure whilst you are illegally breaking and entering to get the V5, you need to safely relocate all the toilet paper, hand soap and cleaning materials to your house “for safe keeping”.
Just don’t forget to replace them when you reopen!
We have got an enormous stock of toilet paper on the squadron… could set us up for a while if I play the market correctly.
We got a load of disinfectant in January… want to set up a joint venture?
Twitter in Meltdown as they just said that anything under 20,000 UK deaths would be a good result, despite this being exactly what was said a week ago. It’s almost like people haven’t been paying attention.
It is a pretty ridiculous number to be targeting for a pat on the back…
Well when the previous likely number was half a million it would be a pretty good result. People still aren’t living in the real world around what we are facing.
Corrected that for you.
We live in sad times.
Talk about glass half empty good lord
The likely number is only that high because of inaction and complacency, missed opportunities, and improper prioritisation by the government. So for them to sell 20K as a job well done when the scale of the problem is their own making is a daft proposal.
If, when this is all over, Germany, France, SK, et al are posting figures near to ours then I might be a bit more lenient.
If this was as fatal as SARS-CoV while maintaining the infection rate and incubation period… We’d be screwed.
I was previously on here talking about how we should have the ability to contain it better than others. I gave the government too much credit to actually take the necessary actions and precautions.
There are about 100,000 deaths every year, I’m willing to put decent money on the fact that, by the year end, we won’t be drastically above that.
There are other stats you need to look at that are more important or add context.
Eg 1:
2019 = 100000 deaths
10000 were skydiving related
2020 = 100000 deaths
5000 were skydiving related because no one could go skydiving for 6 months
Therefore 5000 COVID-19 deaths were “additional”
Eg 2:
Same 100000 total baseline.
2018 and 2019 = 2000 cancer deaths and 3000 dementia deaths
2020 = 1000 COVID-19 deaths among cancer and dementia patients each
2021 and 2022 = 1000 cancer deaths and 2000 dementia deaths
Therefore 2000 COVID-19 deaths were “additional”
(numbers not statistically factual, but used for simplicity)
In short, you need to account for increases and decreases in other causes of death.
Also, I think our final recorded death figure for COVID-19 related deaths will initially show higher and later be reduced, because anyone dying having testing positive will count now but actual cause of death reviewed later. I might be wrong on that bit.
Possibly useful to compare 'flu deaths. 2012-2019 reports are here.
Look at page 37 of this archived report - Surveillance of influenza and other respiratory pathogens in the UK October 2011 – April 2012 - it outlines excess deaths above “the norm” 2000-2012.
The peak in 2008-2009 was around 10,000 “excess.” For 2001-2002, it was about 7,000.
The follow-up pandemic report is very interesting.
So, 10,000 excess deaths for one year. I wouldn’t dream of making any bets of how far Covid19 will extend…
Erm what…
600,000 die per year in the UK.
But you are likely correct. A large proportion of those who die from covid, probably would have died this year anyway.
Like I said.
Sad times.
It’s not even the death that’s truly sad, but the ancilary things, like minimal numbers at funerals. Lost final goodbyes and precious moments stolen by this blasted lock down.
Curses china.
Small c, you dont deserve a capital letter anymore.
